Dansby , $43 million contract, including $22 million guaranteed 34 tackles...1 sack...29 years old in a few weeks It's a shame everyone over pays for "not so free agents" He has done a good job for us but with the money he is making he should be elite and sadly he is not
I can’t even believe this thread exists. You want elite players? You pay for them. Both are worth the money invested. You want to know what overpaying is? 35 year old Ray Lewis in the early stages of a 7 year, $44 million dollar contract with more money guaranteed than Dansby.
Its funny that a thread like this comes up, (not that the thread is funny?. It wasn't too long ago threads were popping up that were speculating that we didn't spend enough in free agency by not picking up more big name free agents. Marshall is the big play WR we have been wanting for years and Dansby is the leader on the field we have been missing since Z. Thomas left. Maybe Dansby is not a great MLB but he is solid and a positive addition to the middle of the defense and a good influence to the young players.
I COMPLETELY disagree with the bolded. I think Dansby IS a great MLB, especially a 3-4 MLB. I think he is actually top 5 for 3-4 MLB.
I cannot believe that you are posting to a thread which should not exist. Why not put up one f your own, which I am sure would be much better, and just ignore this one? I look forward to your thread.
I am not saying that I don't think Dansby is great but I was just responding in kind to some of the comments. I think Marshall and Dansby were great pickups and I admit I was apprehensive about Marshall's baggage. IMO we got the two best free agents available but you can't please everyone all of the time.
Hmm, I don't see Beast as a "Big Play" Wr, he just is not fast enough for that, what I do see him as is basically a Safety Blanket for Chad Henne, Henne Powers can feed him the ball and Beast will catch it or make a play on it. As for Dansby, afaik he has not made a pro bowl, but still, the learning curve for a Rook ILB is uncertain, why not remove that by just paying him? He is a top 8 type of ILB but this era of inside linebackers has Lewis and Willis and Urlacher and Fletcher, so the pro bowl is not a great yardstick for measuring a players worth.
So, wondering why people ask if Dansby and Marshall are overpaid means that I have to start a thread in response? Really?
how is marshall not a big play WR... have you seen his plays throughout his career? big play doesnt mean stretch the field, but it means big play as in big yards... he has MANY catches in his career that goes for big gain because of his ability to get separation and create YAC
"In his career" that would be in Denver, in Miami he has a couple of long receptions, but no Beast runs for TD's breaking tackles along the way. More or less now, Henne feeds him the ball, Beast is gang tackled and that is that..still 11 games to go but not seeing runs like he had vs the Cowboys as of yet.
How are we even questioning this? Marshall, in only five games for us, has 10 catches in a game TWICE, and 8 catches in another; he has 37 catches overall; he has 467 yards already and averages 93.4 yards per game, on a 1500-yard pace for the season; HE HAS 26 FIRST DOWNS IN 5 GAMES. He is, hands down, the most dangerous weapon the Dolphins have had on Offense since the days of Duper and Clayton. Dansby is our best player on Defense, in a year in which we have had absolutely ROTTEN luck with injuries, so thank heaven that we at least have him or the season would be a washout in the first quarter. How is this even an issue?
marshall is a ****in beast. he is worth everything single penny we paid for him. his attitude has brought a good vibe to the team, and he has given us the dominant wr presence we have been lacking for years. the beast is going to lead the league in rec and yds by years end imo. dansby, although maybe overpaid is someone we needed in that defense. the guy has been pretty solid for us so far, and although he hasn't had his ''MOMENT'' yet on defense, hes still been real good and will only get better has he gets more accustomed to this defense
because he hasnt had many big plays in miami doesnt mean he isnt a big play WR. Its been 5 games. He cant have big plays every catch. he is a big play WR and one of the best big play WRs in the league
He's almost at 40 receptions and he is right around his normal avg of 12 ypc, this is Beast R&R, he is the best possession Wr in the game in terms of targeting, but he is not really a big play Wr. A part of that is he is surrounded by other possession Wr's, Hartline, Bess, all right around 12 ypc or under.
THAT I can agree with, he is doubled or tripled constantly and still makes plays, however until someone else shows they can go deep and make a D pay for single coverage this is what will see from Beast. Which is why I'm an advocate for Roberto Wallace to see more playing time.
whoever says brandon isnt a big play wr does not watch football. the guy is a flat out beast, and has proven time and time again that he can make big plays. just bc we havent seen that ''moment'' from him yet, does not mean it wont come. its been 5 games as a fin so far. i guarantee the beast by years end has at least 105-115 rec, if not more, and 1350 yds.
