Are there any CFL, unsigned UDFA, formerly injured WRs worth bringing in for a look?

For example, Brennan Marion, the Tulsa speedster we picked up in 2009 (I think) who had knee problems. Could he be healthy by now and worth a look?

There are also local walk-on guys like our friend,

Brennan Marion updatem, for those who remember the kid (he was homeless and overcame a lot of adversity...unfortunately including three ACL tears).

A shame. I'd hoped maybe he'd be worth another look by now, but that third ACL tear seals the deal for me. I wish him luck with his charity work (he has a foundation).

Why did Sims-Walker wash out? He may have made more sense if Garrard were starting.

Mike Thomas has seemed to have fallen out of favor in Jacksonville, could be had in a trade.

None of these players mentioned is worth bringing in. We have some young WRs, we need to develop them and just accept the fact that none of our guys will be in contention for a pro-bowl roster spot.
instead of giving up after a few weeks, let's see if R Mathews and Fuller can develop into quality #2 type WRs. Next year, we can go after a #1.

Who is going to be better than Matthews, Fuller, and Hogan, who have had a full camp to learn a new system. Matthews showed some skill against Carolina, as Hogan showed some ability to use his strength. Fuller should have some chemistry with Tannehill. The real question marks are these guys:

    Wallace - consistency and separation
Gates - is he any better than any of the rookies?
Cunningham - will he get the opportunity in a game before cut day?
Naanee - I believe Philbin wants him on the team, but who will show up on game day. A guy that catches one or two passes?
Pruitt - good on special teams, can he get open on a consistent basis?

    Yuck.

Drops were an issue last season and this training camp. Plus, he's been paid well IIRC.

I think the ship has sailed for bringing any WRs that are currently available. I'd assume if they wanted to do that, it would have happened after they cut Johnson.

The GM says we have 4s 5s and 6s.

So, it's an urgent problem, yeah. Wide receiver is a very important position. This ain't long snapper.

Through the more traditional routes, yeah. That's why I'm suggesting extending the search with more resources looking in the less expected places. Especially guys who were young but perhaps didn't make the 53 the last couple years due to injury.

Guys like that could be healed and ready to go but lost in the crush of the numbers game with a fresh new crop of this years college kids getting the attention right now.

I suggest looking at the kids from two three and four years ago who had injuries and are healthy again now.

That whole 4s, 5s, and 6s is being blown out of proportion I think. He said he really likes the group, and followed that statement with "we have to see which of those guys become the 3s, 2s, and 1s". Quite accurate if you ask me. That is what camp is for. Ireland was never shy to address an area of need, and with all of the pressure on him now, I think he would have truly gone after a WR if felt it to be a dire need.

I think Ireland sees the offense we are running, and sees that we have capable WRs. We may not have a star, but a bunch that will be more than serviceable with what we are asking them to do.

I didn't want Johnson to begin with. Nor Naanee. I wanted the young guys to be kept and developed. That is what Philbin said he liked. As far as a veteran presence goes, Bess would have been just as good as say Naanee. Not having Johnson did take that away I admit, but I didnt' really view him with that kind of influence anyway.
