Per Jim Trotter, the Cardinals are sending CB Dominique Rogers-Cromartie, a second round pick and a contract worth at least $30 million guaranteed.
To quote Trotter, "I'd rather have Orton."
My hope is that Denver and/or Kyle Orton aren't subscribing to this insanity. I hope cooler heads prevail. I hope things don't hit a snag and everyone remembers that the Cardinals are ridiculous and Andy Reid tends to get the better of these kinds of things.
Man o' man!

Yikes, glad to see the dolphins arent on the laughing end of that deal!

I haven't a clue what people see in this QB.

so is this official ?

I very much would like to see Orton in Miami, a 5 yr 25 million and 5 million dollar bonus and a #2 is about in line with what a lower tiered Starting Qb would pull down...but to throw in DRC as well?
That would be like us tossing in Vontae Davis, and that is just crazy talk. -

Kolb has a horseshoe up his ***. How much in guaranteed money has he gotten now off 3 contracts. Rediculous.
-
-
Eagles won in 3 ways:
-#2 pick that figures to be Top 45
-Cleared Kolb's 3-4 million off of the books
-Got a young highly talented, proven, starting Cb -
But Jim Trotter is legit. -
Adding Vince Young to the mix means he has even less of a market, watch Young wind up in Philly with the money they would have paid Kolb if he stayed. -

Good. I'm glad this deal went down if for no other reason than it means Denver can't extort us for Orton: the other bidders in the Orton sweepstakes have all obtained alternatives. Seattle signed Tarvaris Jackson and Sidney Rice, Arizona is trading for Kolb, and the Titans signed Hasselbeck.
I don't want Kyle Orton at all, but at least we don't have to give up even higher compensation for him now.PhinsRDbest likes this. -

More Trotter.
Sounds like his agents got exactly what they wanted, meaning they accurately forecast the market.
Maybe it's the rest of us who are crazy. -

Orton has thrown close to twice as many TD than Int for two straight years.
But more importantly, has improved his play every year he’s been in the league.
Ireland is after this guy because Orton is the best available QB this year. He may not have the upside some of the draft picks have, but should easily outperform them for the next few years.Rocky Raccoon likes this. -
Wow.. i mean, i think Kolb will be good, but wow... thats a lot.

So, who do you think will have a better season, assuming things go according to plan? Kolb in Arizona or Orton in Miami?
Orton should end up with more wins, but Kolb may have more TDs in that offense. If we can have our 3 headed RBC with D Thomas, Bradshaw and Ronnie? with an improved Oline, Orton gives us 9-10 wins. -
Toss up, except the Cards play in such a weak division so Kolb will do quite well I'd think.
Their SB team is just about dismantled at this point though. -
Didn't know they were losing Breaston. but the division is a big factor IMO.

I'm not as down on Kolb as everyone else.
People are saying how this is franchise/career suicide for those involved in Arizona. What about Philly? I mean we talked about their "window" closing a couple years ago. This rejuvenated that secondary, frees up some cash flow, and gets an extra pick. As bad as the Cardinals may look, Andy Reid and those guys did a great job maneuvering this deal. Why get Asmougha, when you bring in DRC cheaper, younger, and with no financial burden? -

Kolb is going to be the next ...... A.J. Feeley, imo. Another steal. So, yeah, of course Philly takes this! ;)
Ridiculous the interest in this guy. As to Orton, I used to despise him at Chicago. But, before trade talk with Miami heated up I warmed up to him. He has simply learned to play the position pretty effectively. He may not be quite as smart as Chad Pennington, but he's growing in that direction and he has a better arm than Penny (maybe not quite as accurate - but more accurate than Henne).
If I'm Miami - you have to think they want him to be the starter. I think he deserves $8-10 Mil. that's basically starter money. Maybe some incentives. If the have to slash a veteran (i.e., Channing Crowder) - do it. I would not be trading high picks, however. I'd go with a 4th and maybe a conditional pick for the following year. Or a conditional fourth that could go up based on incentives.
Greg Cosell is a pretty fair observer (working for NFL Films). His tweet observations on Orton:
