This series keeps getting better and better. I can't wait for this one either! If they can fix the clunkiness and optimize the AI a little better, this could be AMAZING. Look at these graphics too...

 Already? Wow.
ArmA 2 and Operation Flashpoint are already a huge strain on PCs. Can’t begin to imagine how bad this will be at launch. -
I don't have the link, unfortunately, but it will be something like this;
System requirements
Operating system: Windows 7 / Vista
Processor: Intel Core i5 or AMD Athlon Phenom X4 or faster
Memory: 2 GB
Video card: Nvidia Geforce GTX 260 or ATI Radeon HD 5770 with Shader Model 3 and 896 MB VRAM, or faster
DVD: Dual Layer compatible
Hard disk: 15 GB free space
Other: DirectX? 10
Not that bad actually. Good quad core rigs today should run it no problems. -
Not that bad? Anyone with hardware older than a year is screwed. I run a Core 2 Quad and a Radeon 4850 X2.
Oh well. -
-
Graphics look amazing. Hopefully they optimize it better than the 1st 2. Had to run arma 2 at High settings until I crossfired my 5850. Oh, and hopefully they release it without so many damn bugs like the 1st 2 as well. Either way, will be an amazing game.
On a different note, it's really saddening to see how Codemasters has destroyed the OpFlash series. -
Ok. Time to revive this thread with some candy...

Camp Rogain is the silliest name I've ever heard.
-
Looks great as expected. Now can they just finally make a game that's playable the first month of release... That's all I ask. We know the game is going to have terrific gameplay. Terrific mod support. Terrific graphics.

Dragon Rising was one of the biggest hoaxes in gaming history. Codemasters should be ashamed of themselves for false advertising. Not gonna get into it.
Arma 3 should be amazing. Hopefully their net code is better. I don't mind bugs, but when players and AI alike rubber band everywhere, that kind of ruins it. -

BIS has published fairly high-end recommended specs for ArmA 3, so they're probably hoping that performance issues will be partially offset by a user base with a higher-than-average spec sheet.
-
For all the ArmA fans, Iron Front: Liberation 1944 releases tomorrow. Uses the same engine as ArmA 2. Basically, a WW2 version of ArmA 2. Should attract lots of ArmA players and hopefully a good modding community.
-
I'm not worried about performance. By the time ArmA 3 comes out, I'll have traded in my 2 5850s for either a 7970 or 680, with hopefully the price drop being enough to get 2 of each at that time. Maybe the 680 4GB depending on the price by that time. Hell maybe even a 6990 or 590, but doubtful. We'll see how price drops go. If they don't **** up the optimization again I should be able to play on high settings at least with 2 5850s, and then I can just keep them and wait for the 6990/590 to fall even more and eventually go for 2 of those setting me up for a long time.

The PC Game didn't come with a serial key. And people who pirated the game were playing online like those who purchased the game. Hacked console games probably worked online too, but I don't know.
They advertised all of this vehicle and chopper gameplay, and you can only use assets on user created coop missions, not PvP multiplayer. PvP multiplayer was so terrible, especially with the lack of dedicated servers that no one even played PvP.
The game was an epic fail for so many reasons and a hoax with false advertising/misleading the public on more than a few occasions. -
I hope they've spruced up the interface in general, though. Submenus of submenus of submenus of options are getting really annoying, and the whole "interface gets confused if you want to go down that ladder or check that body" thing is old now. -
Nice screenies, but Arma2 is a pretty good looking game itself.
I really can't imagine that Arma3 is going to play or run or release any differently than ofp or arma or a2. Will there be new features? Sure, but BIS just releases these games and then patches them up over time. -
Even though it may be buggy, the level of commitment by BIS is unparalleled, and even at launch, any Arma release becomes the deepest game on the market - hands down.
Yes, Arma 2 looked good, but Arma 3 will look even better with integrated DX11 and HDR light sources.

OK. If you preorder you have access to the Arma 3 Alpha that is out now. BIS didn't put any NDAs on the Alpha release, and actually encouraged people to start making videos and live streaming and uploading to youtube, etc.
This is from Dslyecxi's channel, and he is heavily involved in the Arma 2 community. Check out his videos on his recent experiences on Arma 3.
Notably, check out all of the different stance modifications in this video.

Here is another video with a weapons and gear overview.

He may have others out by now. Check out his channel, and keep an eye out on other people's vids as well. A lot from Arma 3 is going to be disclosed (Alpha only though, remember) in the near future.
This game looks very promising and is pretty much the reason I built my rig.Desides likes this. -
Any interface videos? I'm wondering if they're still using the abomination of an input system from ArmA 1 and 2. You know, the command system that proves this game was never meant to be played with an AI squad? That disgusting mess.
Also, looks like I made the right decision in upgrading to 16 GB RAM… -
The big improvement for me is the clunkiness of movement and aiming seems to be gone. Im thinking of preordering so I have access to the alpha. Def. gonna have to upgrade my GPU though. Thinking about a GTX 670. -
My rig destroys the alpha. No choppiness or anything with graphics cranked up all the way. For what it's worth, I'm running: Core i5-3570k, GTX 670 Windforce OC, Crucial M4 SSD, 16 GB DDR3-1600 RAM, 1920x1200.Tone_E likes this. -
If you're on 1680x1050, you should look at the 660 Ti or Radeon 7870. The 7870 is cheaper and nearly as good, so that might be the winner here. Tough to say until we get closer to release and drivers get optimized.
-
I was thinking the EVGA 670 FTW, but then I read that if you SLI cards, you don't get compounded RAM. So if you have two cards in SLI, it only uses overall RAM from one card, 2 GB, not the collective 4 GB. So now I am looking for a 4GB 670 as 2k and 4k textures are going to be the next thing and I want prepare for that. -
If you're going to go to a higher resolution, then yes, you'll want to look at a 670, or wait and see how the next generation of cards perform--ArmA 3 isn't coming out until Q4, so you have time to ponder this.

I was meaning to ask you when the next gen cards are coming out. Confession (damn I feel like Omar Kelly) I only did a quick google search and was only able to find vague info. If you can point me in the right direction I'd appreciate it.

The GTX 700 series... no word.Tone_E likes this. -
Really liking this game. It is pretty optimized too. Alpha includes mission editor (limited units) that pretty much opens the game to whatever you want. A lot of PVP missions on multiplayer as well.
I have a few alpha codes if anyone wants to try it out. I also play with a small group of people. We have a teamspeak server and a custom arma 3 server that one of my friends hosts himself.
Let me know, my Steam ID is tone_e_10 -
I wouldn't say it's optimized, it's just not as shoddily coded as previous ArmA games. (ArmA 2 should not have been nearly that intensive…) It can certainly perform even better, and I expect it to, especially when driver support is improved.
-
Well, I guess that is what I meant, but considering I am running everything on high with only a 560 Ti on large scale PVP servers, it seems pretty optimized. Night and day difference from Arma 2 that is for sure. Looking forward to the full release. Just the alpha alone has so many more PVP missions made due to changes in the editor that is opening up so many game modes, advance and secure, domination (full map, partial map), vip escort, bomb enemy bases (like CTF with limited bomb supply in the middle of the playing area, not the full island), king of the hill, etc.
This is a great game. I am just disappointed that they went a little futuristic. I'd love to have an M4s and HUMVEEs in this game. I am sure mods will bring those back though. -
Those vehicles were never taken out, they just aren't part of the alpha. They should be in the final game. Remember, the point of the alpha is to iron out technical issues that may not arise during internal testing, not to show off a feature-complete product prior to release.
Also, your Steam ID is wrong and I had to search for Tone_E to find you. -
