Peppers plays everything the run the pass, can act as DE in 4-3, can stand up as an OLB in a 3-4.....he is 3 years younger.....Porter really just rushes the passer, and even that is declining...there really is no comparison between the 2...

 

If he has any trade value, it's only because of the uncapped year. We may have lucked out on that front.

 

I'm sorry but I still cannot forget the play on 4th down against the Jets. If you guys remember, they did a fake punt and Porter had the KICKER wrapped up and couldn't bring him down. So please don't mention Porter and Peppers in the same sentence.

 

Declining play and injury concerns, combined with what is essentially him demanding to be traded is going to all but eliminate any trade value, IMHO. The Dolphins would be lucky to get a 5th or 6th rounder for him. But you know what...I'd take whatever I could get and deal him to the first serious suitor.

 

If we could just get back a 5th round pick (which we currently lack) for Porter I'd chalk that up as a win for our FO

You know, Julius Peppers is more hype than anything. He can play, don't get me wrong. But he doesn't show up...ever. At least Porter wants to start and play more and prove what he can do. Peppers just wants to get paid and then disappear for 16 games.

 

So you want to justify Porter's value because Pepper's sack production was almost equal to Porter's...Sorry but what you have are two over priced veterens.

Good luck finding a trading partner for Porter when teams are going to be purging there salaries

huh?? how do u get that.....he as a lineman, had 11 sacks, forced 5 fumbles, recovered 1, and a pick 6!!!!!!! and that was by all accounts considered a bad year for him....

 

But that's the thing man. Joey never asked for a trade. And Armando wont back off the story because he want to say he was the first to report it when it happens. Yes, Porter is most likely going to be traded. No, he didn't ask for a trade. And no, Armando has no journalistic integrity. He's the kind of guy who would rather report it first and hope it's right than do his research. He's using the same source material for this article that everyone else saw on Rome yesterday and it's very clear that Joey never asked for a trade. There's a difference between stating your unhappiness at the way you were utilized in a defense that didn't help any one on our team to progress, and flat out stating I want out of Miami.

He should be paid more, his much better, we will agree that both JP and Pep are both play-making defensive players...what I mean by that is, stuff other than tackles.....so putting tackles aside....

Porter in 11 years has had 10+ sacks in just 3 of those years......
Pep in 8 years, has had 10+ sacks in 6 of them.....

Porter has more Int's but he drops back in coverage too more than Pep, even with that he (Pep) has 2 pick 6's, including one this year, whereas Porter hasn't had a pick in 2 years...

Porter in the past 4 years has forced 6 fumbles recovering 1....
Pep in the past 4 years has forced 16 fumbles recovering 5....

Porter in the past 4 years has had (while dropping into coverage ALOT more than Pep) defended 12 passes...
Pep in the past 4 years has defended 20......

If Pep took some games off, with the above numbers? What do u consider JP doing.....??

I'm not advocating getting Pep, but there really is no comparison between the 2, he should have gotten more because he was alot better than Porter, and kept his mouth shut too as well, before this year, when he piped up a little about his contract situation...bottom line, I saw a JP this year who just looked inferior, and couldn't be counted on when it mattered most....the Pats Vollmer, a rookie LT filling in for Light, is a good place to start...go watch that tape, it is an embarrassment....

The report is that Porter asked the Dolphins brass for a trade, not that he told Jim Rome he wanted to be traded, even though Salguero did report that too.

That's Omar Kelly and Mike "Web Weekend" Beradino. Salguero is a step up, but that's sort of like saying you're halfway out of the sewer.

 

I wouldnt pay the price tag now that Pep wants, but for the last 4 years I would have paid the difference, Pep has remained largely consistent where Porter w/ the exception of 2008 has not...I'll take the consistent player over the hit or miss all day....Pep has dealt with just as many injuries as well...

why don't you just look at his career numbers as a whole, and especially w/in the past four years, he did have a horrible year no doubt....however just look that 3 sack year it is sandwiched between a 13 sack year previous to that, and an 15 sack year after that.....the guy in 8 years has had 10+ sacks a year in 6 of them!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yes that is consistency....not sure what you don't get about that....

 

And I don't get what you don't understand about the fact that Peppers dogs it, gives up on his teammates, and doesn't play with passion. I live in NFC South territory. I have friends who are Panthers fans. They'll be the first to tell you that Peppers is hype. Peppers could be the best player in the league on the DLine if he actually gave a **** and tried. But he doesn't. And you can tell in his play. He had a good year last year cause he was trying to get that money. He had a good year this year cause he was trying to get that money again. I guarantee you that whoever gives him a big contract next year is not going to get the same production out of him, because that's the kind of player he is.

 

I see your numbers Padre, I get what your saying, I'm looking at the last four years the most recent data not when he was in year 2 at Pitt...JP is clearly falling off....in his numbers, in his play from watching him, everything is declining, and quite honestly it should be, he is 33 in March....Pep is 30...3 years in that position makes a difference...the money in football isn't the same last year as it was 4 years ago...

In that position in the trenches, I doubt it....if he was good because he wanted that money bro, guess what he wasn't dogging it....When he gets his contract it will be up to the coaching staff to rectify his dogging. Porter had a terrible season getting 12 tackles in the first 8 games/half a season and 2.5 sacks

Porter had 11 QB pressures all season
Wake had 9 in one game
