Dolphins left tackle Terron Armstead dealt with a number of injuries while making 14 starts over the regular season and playoffs last season and he’s been managing his workload this offseason as well. Armstead had arthroscopic knee surgery that led the team to put him on the physically unable to perform list at the start of camp. Armstead is off the list now and he took a step toward being ready for Week One by taking reps during Wednesday’s joint practice with the Texans. When that session was over, Armstead shared where he is in terms of being ready for Miami’s opener against the Chargers. “Process. I’m still getting ready,” Armstead said, via a transcript from the team. “I don’t feel like I’m fully ready yet for the regular season, but we don’t have a game yet. Still working through that process. Trying to get more reps to get more game-ready and get my body feeling optimal. Just get it as good as possible to go out and play some ball.” Keeping quarterback Tua Tagovailoa healthy has been a focus of the Dolphins offseason and success on that front will be likelier with a healthy offensive line protecting him, so the hope will be that Armstead can get where he needs to be as soon as possible.
Fingers crossed it’s just a scare. It was his first practice rep when it happened. We definitely cannot afford for Terron to miss any time. There are already 2 question marks on the line. If we enter the season with 3 unknowns on the O line…. I’m afraid the ‘sky is falling crowd’ may actually have a legit point.
Just posted a video showing he can still walk. I guess he took that one practice rep and was like, yeah I don’t have any interest in practicing this season either…. Vet move, probably won’t see him on the practice field for the rest of 2023
He's the example of what the difference is between "injured" and "hurt" in the NFL. Most players are hurt over the course of the season and most play through it. I doubt we'll ever have him healthy for a full season because he seems to play hurt almost continually. With that being said, let's hope that with maintenance days we keep him on the field in spite of it.
And yet, we keep bringing in defensive backs and wide receivers to look at, with one guy (AJ) who wouldn’t make any roster in the league, and another (Liam) who wouldn’t crack a starting spot anywhere.
Dolphins left tackle Terron Armstead was carted from Thursday’s practice with a right leg injury. He later posted on social media that he was OK. Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that Armstead will not need surgery. Armstead hopes to return in time to play the season opener on Sept. 10 against the Chargers. “Got landed on during team run in practice today! Things like that happens in the trenches! We just get up and get back to work! And that’s what I do! Mindset on Week 1,” Armstead wrote Thursday.
Was reading an article about each team’s question marks heading into the season, and it’s remarkable how many times the OL was mentioned. It really is a wasteland in terms of top tier talent.
And he is still "getting ready". https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profo...cticing-but-devon-achane-jaylen-waddle-return
Say it ain’t so…. https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/...rron-armstead-on-track-to-sit-out-per-report/
The team needs to prepare every week as if Armstead isn't there. If he's this banged up before the season starts then count him out. Next man up.
That would be applicable if we had a solid line, like Detroit’s looks to be, but when he’s your (far and away) best lineman, that spells trouble.
