Wow. Just...wow. Anyone hear the show today? Artie went BALLISTIC on Teddy. I thought he was gonna put him in the hospital. The dude went through about 5 guys to try to get to Teddy. I love Artie, but he certainly crossed theline today. Artie ended up quiting the show and if he hadn't, I think they would have had to fire him. The guy has GOT to be on something again. I don't buy that he is clean right now. As it stands, he is off the show and the show is on vacation next week so we won't know for two weeks... If he is gone, I hope he gets his act together because he is one of the funniest comedians in the worldin my opinion. I also hope that if he has to be replaced, that Greg Fitzsimmons is the one to get the job. He is pretty funny himself. I wouldn't be surprised if Artie ends up dead soon...
But seriously.....thats crazy....hope its on youtube or something soon, i wanna see what went down Fo'Sho!
No he was yelling at Howard but he didn't come anywhere near Howard for violence. He hugged Howard when he quit and told him he loved him, but he went after Teddy and from how it sounded, he was tearing the studio apart.
I havent heard that show since they switched to satellite and left the E! channel. I used to be a huge fan of Howard. Yes Artie has had some close calls with death already and will be dead soon enough.
Stern Fan Network has crashed and they are refusing to air the replay on the radio, which is lame. This by far tops the AJ Benza incident. Long time fans know what I am talking about.
Damn...my subscription just ran out on Monday! ****! I'm glad that he is gone to tell you the truth. I was so tired of his whining. Dude had a cake job, and couldn't handle it. He was constantly calling in sick, about once a month.

oh are they pulling that BS again? They did the same thing when he got into with Richard and Sal. That is the gayest thing ever. He even banned the other shows on the 2 channels from discussing it.
nothing is official on that show. he said he resigned, but he really didn't. and they(sirius) said they pulled the replay so howard could review the tape over the weekend and decide what to do. sounds like a load to me, but you never know. Arties been trying to get himself out of the show for the last 2 years...he just cant bring himself to quitting. yelling the F word(slur for gays) yet AGAIN, getting violent again. repeatedly missing days. i like him, his moms family and my wifes family are life-long friends. but he takes himself too seriously, he needs to chill and just be...and give the stand up a rest.
I think he is the second highest paid stand up comedian in theindustry. He routinely nets checks over 75 grand for a night. What he doesn't realize is that he only gets that due to the exposure he has from the Stern show.
Agreed about him trying to get off the air. He has zero respect for the show too. Falling asleep on the air constantly in between calling in sick. Notice he never pulled this stuff when he first got there. He has said forever now that this schedule isn't for him and he needs to go. But you're right, he refuses to quit, instead hoping to be fired. Its part of his self destructive personality. He does work more than people give him credit for. Having a job that constantly puts you on planes every week is tough. I have done that, and do that still sometimes and it wears you down. On top of doing stand up at night and a morning drive talk show can wreak havoc on you. And I think its unfair to ask himto give up stand up seeing as how he probably QUADRUPLES his pay from the show doing it. But even with all that in his corner, you can't do what he did today. The guy is out of control and I think he needs to be drug tested. Honestly he does. Besides all of that, there is a precedent with this show to fire people who become physical.
Artie NEVER would be able to sell out theatres without the Howard Stern Show plugging his appreances everyday. For many years, those plugs hit anywhere from 12 to 20 million pairs of ears a day throughout the country. Even today millions are still listening to Stern on a pay service. Who do you think goes to his shows? Stern Fans. Artie would admit that, and has.
nah arties top 2-3 gigs ever brought in 75. i think he's more in the 20k range...like this Florida gig that screwed him. they paid him 10K, and they owe him 6...you can do the math. guys like chris rock, seinfeld, dane cook&jay leno(unfortunately), robin williams etc...comedian STARS are on a whole other level. 10-20 Xs his highest gigs ya know.
I think most of us would, that is not the point. The point is, Artie is so screwed up that even when he has the world by the balls, he is miserable. He creates this own depressing universe for himself.
I worded it wrong, I believe he brings in more money than those guys (with the exception of Dane Cook) due to how often he works. I read it somewhere, have to find the article. Good catch on your end.
yes he had a career in show business, but he was basically jeremy piven before entourage. you're right on sam. although again, i think your numbers are off a tad. i think there's only 8 million subscriptions to serious..but still, you can basically bank on 99% of them listening to stern...and the loyalty to howard is just insane. its a very proactive group. 2 years off that show, and he'd just disappear into obscurity...kinda like jackie. i just dont think he could really bank on a big time career as an actor. you cant go around unhappy in life. i know he makes good scratch at the show...he should just give the stand-up a rest. i know he was planning on taking july-august off from touring...if he can make it to the summer...he'd maybe be okay. i just hope he pocketed a nice chunk of change...he's gonna need it if he really does leave...though at this pace i dont see him making it much past 50...so its only gotta last 10 years.
Uhm, how are my numbers off when I clearly stated that millions still listen to Stern on a pay service (Sirius)? The 12-20 million number is from when he was on regular radio across the country. I happen to think Artie is a terrific talent when it comes to standup, but you know as well as I do that the Stern Fans will absolutely turn on him when heleaves the show. You are spot on that his numbers will tail off significantly if/when he leaves the show. Probably not as much as Jackies because A: Jackie sucks, B: Howard will still support Artie publicly and C: Artie does have a career outside of the show (movies, standup etc.) and thus has connections to get his name out there. But your right. The messed up part for Artie is that he wa splanning on retiring from the road in a couple of years by working hard now and banking tons of money. With this blow up and potential plugs going away, he has just doomed himself to a life on the road for the remainder of his life barring something amazing coming his way.
It probably came off more defensive than I wanted it to. I was asking a question more than fighting back, but comprehension on the internet is open to interpretation as tone and body language is taken out of the equation when responding. And don't tell me to have a drink...go change a diaper...
