I don't think that win counts seeing as how everyone bailed on that site. I probably get bumped in the sweet 16 if everyone was voting who normally does. And I edited that post so it doesn't look so bad. Nothing but love for you buddy. Sick on the other hand...
Alot of people put Artie in their top 10 comedians. I cannot do that for 2 reasons. 1., no HBO special. Anybody who is near the top of the comedy class has done an HBO special. Carlin, Chris Rock, Dave Attell, George Lopez, etc, etc,etc. 2. His comedy really hasn't changed since he got onto the Stern show. I mean he basically still uses the same material that he did on "Its the Whiskey Talking"/
Actually, number 2 is flase. He has a whole new routine now. I also don't care about HBO specials. Carlin and Rock are funny regardless and I don't really find Attell to be all that funny as a standup (although I love his comedy central show) and George Lopez is awful.
dude Lopez is funny as ****. Everybody knows the "you member" thing, but alot of his act is fresh, and never re-hashed. If you understand any spanish at all kis act is killer. oh and Artie's "new" routine is the same **** he's been doing for the last 2 years.
artie is ok i listen to the show everyday at work half the time artie is sleeping or eating. I'm not surprised he left you know it was coming sooner or later. bring Jackie back or Billy west......
Jackie will not be brought back. If he is, I will refuse to listen. That guy is horrible and has never been anything but. Billy West is/was great but he was never in the caliber that Jackie or Artie was with relation to the show. I think Greg Fitzsimmons would be a good replacement. I am hoping Bob Levy doesn't get it either, or Sal. Both are ok but are dunces and their routine wears off very quickly. Adam Carolla was up for this spot back when Artie got it and has his own show now, so he is most likely out of the equation, which is too bad. Jim Florentine would have been a candidate if he wasn't boinking Robin... I can't really think of a viable replacement outside of Greg. Edit: Louis C.K. would be good too, but I hink he has an affiliation with Opie and Anthony if I am not mistaken.
I love when he gets all bug-eyed as he's telling a story. I think he's funny because he trancends race. Im white as hell and still find him hilarious.
What is tragic is that on April 1st when everybody was doing April Fools jokes...i dissmissed all of them till Sid Rosenberg did his. His was that Artie Lange was found dead in his apartment from a heroin overdose. A little morbid of a "joke" but it actually had me for about 30 seconds...I thought..."Damn, that is one believeable April Fools Joke."
They did this in Vegas a few years back that local news agencies picked up on and reported as fact. Artie has even stated it was surreall to watch his obit on the air while still breathing and having to call his mother and console her. But it shows you how close to death everyone thinks he is. On a sidenote: A blog is ranking the viable replacement candidates and has Fitzsimmons as number 1 and Nick DiPaolo at number 2. I didn't think about him. He is a close friend of Artie's though so not sure if he would actually do that or not. Dave Attell is another interesting choice and may have some great stories.
