Clearly those whores were Templars.

And yeah I would have prefered canonical DLC to the "what if" DLC.
Something like The DaVinci Dissapearence that can hint at whats in store for the next game.

Well, if we can have a fist fight with the pope, we can elevate whores to Templar status.

I remember reading that there are 5 DLC packs planned for AC3 and that the Washington stuff is three out of five. I don't know if the already released DLC counts as the other two, or even if this planned 5 pack is true. Maybe there's hope, as AC4's plot comes together, that a DLC pack for AC3 is assembled that can bridge the gap. I'm pretty sure that they're going to use the pivot stuff—where hackers uploaded Animus data to the cloud—as a bridge. But we'll see.

Whats intresting about that is that they uploaded memories of Desmond's ancestors to the cloud. So cant we still have another game staring Connor?

We could but apparently won't. The developers' preference is for a new character in each game.

Interesting to note that this is the symmetrical Assassin emblem of the AC2 era, rather than the "correct" asymmetrical emblem.

Also, the first Tyranny of George Washington DLC packs for AC3 is out today. Parts 2 and 3 are forthcoming.

The original Assassin emblem from AC1 was asymmetrical; one side of the point was thicker than the other. In AC2, it became symmetrical, because symmetry was a core idea of Renaissance design. The logo became asymmetrical again in AC3, and in spinoffs like The Fall. But the logo in the picture attached to the MCV tweet is symmetrical, AC2-style.

You can see all of the known Assassin logos here. The asymmetry is very obvious. Look at the Levantine Assassin logo, or the American Assassin logo. The left side of the point is thinner than the right side.

So the use of a symmetrical logo in this tweet means we could be going back to the Renaissance, though I hope not, because the Renaissance was pretty heavily explored by AC2 and spinoffs like the Facebook games.

So, the George Washington DLC isn't strictly alternate universe. There's a wordless cutscene where Gee Dub approaches Connor at a camp fire and somehow has an Apple of Eden in his possession; then he uses it and suddenly history is different. I think it'll wind up being revealed that nothing was actually affected besides GW and Connor at that camp fire.

Also, I'm pretty sure the AC event next week will be a demonstration of AC4 for the PS4.

I beat the first DLC. It's pretty short if you don't do everything. Actually, it's pretty short even if you do everything. And the side objectives seem to be bugged; I gave food to 5 starving civilians, fulfilling the requirement, but they still kept randomly appearing.

Man, I hope this AC event isn't just a "hay guiz here's parts 2 and 3!"

This is likely full of crap, but there are some rumors going about that the game being announced on the 27th is Assassin's Creed: Black Flag, a pirate game. Its code name was supposedly Golden Age, which refers to the golden age of piracy from 1650 − 1730. The logo in the press announcement therefore becomes a mark on a treasure map, or a stamp on a letter of marquee.

And apparently this press event was not supposed to be revealed publicly and there's a 2-3 week embargo on information afterward.

Gunpowder doesn't explode without some sort of spark. Edward there is just fine.

Assuming that's real box art anyway.

OK. Point remains, the holster configuration is not a threat.

Assassin's Creed 3 has a whole bunch of pirate missions, you can play it right now and get a taste.

Crazy ****ing Conpspiracy theory: Ubisoft is going with a blond haired, fair skinned protaganist because Michael Fassbender cant play a Syrian or a Native American.

Now what blows holes in that is that Fassbender can play an Italian or Desmond, or whomever the modern assassin is.

I been a huge fan of Assassin's Creed since original. I will hold by breathe on 4, 3 was disappointing so gonna wait for reviews before I touch this. Pirates are cool and all but will see where they take it, was hoping for a different time period though. Side note though cannot wait for the movie!

3 was a slight disappointment to me at first, but honestly, it's a very good game with some slight annoyances. Its biggest flaw is the Animus timeskip mechanism fast-forwarding over what would have been good chunks of character development (even including the fact that Connor was out to sea for half of every year.)

Ubisoft also made some strange editing choices. They recorded the epilogue of the AC3 novel but didn't include it in the game. Take a listen and tell me this is disappointing:

Anyway, AC4 takes place in 1715, so it is a different time period. It's at the tail end of the age of piracy.

Possible, but I doubt Fassbender is going to play Edward Kenway. I think Fassbender is going to play an original character, thus the movie becomes a part of the series lore in the way that AC The Fall did.

Ubisoft has done a really bad job keeping the PR timetables on this one.

But this seems damn interesting. I'm more into this setting than I was when AC3's American Revolution setting was revealed. Looks like they're bringing back some elements from Brotherhood, too.

Also, I have to admit, using Edward Kenway is a little anticlimactic. Thanks to the AC3 novel, we already know exactly what happens to him and in what year, so we're looking at max a time range of about 1715-1735. Assuming that Ubi doesn't decide to retcon their own book.

Don't get me wrong it wasn't the story that bothered me I for the most part liked it. What my problem was just lack of fluid feeling to game like the previous titles did so well. I felt I could kinda just go off on tangeant anytime on the old ones. Then 3 I felt pushed through as stated before. I mean I will play 4 that's a given for sure, but I will wait for reviews see if its worth my 60 or wait for a drop to like 40. AC3 I should of waited for 40.

Hopefully I wasn't just spoiled with Ezio, by far my favorite character of the series.

3 did feel like it pushed the player through the story, and I didn't like that at all. But when I played the PC version, it felt more relaxed and open, more along the lines of Revelations. And the frontier was an excellent sandbox.

Yes, I think you were spoiled by Ezio. I was too, to an extent. Connor is nearly as good a character, especially once you sit back and digest everything he does. He's not a perfect everything like Ezio, which is refreshing, too.

Ya I liked Connor for who he was a Warrior in every sense of the word. I guess I couldn't relate to Connor really in very many ways either. While Ezio I loved how deep he was, started out a playboy to end up this wise older man. It was just done so well I hope this new character finds a way to compare. I remember the trailer for Revelations all I could think was how awesome it was to see Ezio evolve the way he has.

Good part is they already have established their new engine, already have many mechanics done that AC3 took care of so they can focus more on story and gameplay. So I have so hope still lol.

I thought game play and controls were weak I. AC3, compared to the others. Even free running was awkward and easy to make mistakes on. And the side quests weren't very fun or interesting. Thought a lot was left to be desired for an AC title.

Oh I also didn't like the auto jump thing, I felt like I was being babied half the game... I like a challenge and AC3 was far from that.

They always change the gameplay in each AC game. Mechanics are streamlined or improved (free running is changed in every game), new elements are introduced (crafting), and bad implementations get discarded (no more blend button). The teams working on these games are so large—multiple studios across three continents—that they can both improve the game and improve the story at the same time.

But going by the announcement trailer, Edward Kenway seems to have a bit of Connor and a bit of Ezio in him. Maybe a little bit of Altaïr as well.

Oh I know, and I know that they heard complaints and started working on what people wanted back or such. Mechanics will change some but a lot of the core work will be the same, and that's why I have hope it will be better than 3 was. I know that AC4 probably was in development not long after 3. I get that and how it all works, game art is a hobby of mine. Though also how many titles really keep delivering the same fun after 3-4 titles, very few. They all start to decline at some point. Animus gives them a chance to mix things up pretty easy by just saying new forms of assassins but we will see.

The fact that AC is now a naval warfare game shows how flexible it is as a franchise. You can do almost anything with it depending on the setting it's placed in.

Yeah, it's eventually going to end, but I think it will end before it declines. My guess is that AC6 or 7 will end the series because the landscape of gaming will have changed by that point.
