Interesting to note that this is the symmetrical Assassin emblem of the AC2 era, rather than the "correct" asymmetrical emblem.

Also, the first Tyranny of George Washington DLC packs for AC3 is out today. Parts 2 and 3 are forthcoming.

The original Assassin emblem from AC1 was asymmetrical; one side of the point was thicker than the other. In AC2, it became symmetrical, because symmetry was a core idea of Renaissance design. The logo became asymmetrical again in AC3, and in spinoffs like The Fall. But the logo in the picture attached to the MCV tweet is symmetrical, AC2-style.

You can see all of the known Assassin logos here. The asymmetry is very obvious. Look at the Levantine Assassin logo, or the American Assassin logo. The left side of the point is thinner than the right side.

So the use of a symmetrical logo in this tweet means we could be going back to the Renaissance, though I hope not, because the Renaissance was pretty heavily explored by AC2 and spinoffs like the Facebook games.

So, the George Washington DLC isn't strictly alternate universe. There's a wordless cutscene where Gee Dub approaches Connor at a camp fire and somehow has an Apple of Eden in his possession; then he uses it and suddenly history is different. I think it'll wind up being revealed that nothing was actually affected besides GW and Connor at that camp fire.

Also, I'm pretty sure the AC event next week will be a demonstration of AC4 for the PS4.

That doesn't explain why they showed up to talk about Watch Dogs.

I beat the first DLC. It's pretty short if you don't do everything. Actually, it's pretty short even if you do everything. And the side objectives seem to be bugged; I gave food to 5 starving civilians, fulfilling the requirement, but they still kept randomly appearing.

Man, I hope this AC event isn't just a "hay guiz here's parts 2 and 3!"

This is likely full of crap, but there are some rumors going about that the game being announced on the 27th is Assassin's Creed: Black Flag, a pirate game. Its code name was supposedly Golden Age, which refers to the golden age of piracy from 1650 − 1730. The logo in the press announcement therefore becomes a mark on a treasure map, or a stamp on a letter of marquee.

And apparently this press event was not supposed to be revealed publicly and there's a 2-3 week embargo on information afterward.

That was the reddit rumor right?

Possibly no longer rumor.

Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag details emerge

After a poster for Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag leaked yesterday, more rumored information about the game has emerged.

The Examiner reports that the main character in Black Flag is Edward Kenway, the father of Haytham Kenway from last year's Assassin's Creed III. Edward is described as a privateer, assassin, and "occasional" pirate.

The report further claims that Black Flag will be set in the Caribbean. Players will reportedly get to travel to multiple islands, including Jamaica, Cuba, and the Bahamas.

The Examiner also suggests Black Flag is presently running current-generation technology, though Ubisoft has plans to release the game on future platforms.

Its probably not smart to strap old timey guns to your chest, you know in the event that the gunpowder gets set off.

Gunpowder doesn't explode without some sort of spark. Edward there is just fine.

Assuming that's real box art anyway.

OK. Point remains, the holster configuration is not a threat.

Assassin's Creed 3 has a whole bunch of pirate missions, you can play it right now and get a taste.

Jerry doesn't want to be a pirate? No wonder Seinfeld went off the air.

Jim Brown didn't even leave at a stronger point in his career than that show.

Crazy ****ing Conpspiracy theory: Ubisoft is going with a blond haired, fair skinned protaganist because Michael Fassbender cant play a Syrian or a Native American.

Now what blows holes in that is that Fassbender can play an Italian or Desmond, or whomever the modern assassin is.

I been a huge fan of Assassin's Creed since original. I will hold by breathe on 4, 3 was disappointing so gonna wait for reviews before I touch this. Pirates are cool and all but will see where they take it, was hoping for a different time period though. Side note though cannot wait for the movie!

3 was a slight disappointment to me at first, but honestly, it's a very good game with some slight annoyances. Its biggest flaw is the Animus timeskip mechanism fast-forwarding over what would have been good chunks of character development (even including the fact that Connor was out to sea for half of every year.)

Ubisoft also made some strange editing choices. They recorded the epilogue of the AC3 novel but didn't include it in the game. Take a listen and tell me this is disappointing:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H6d79JHh3cU

Anyway, AC4 takes place in 1715, so it is a different time period. It's at the tail end of the age of piracy.

Possible, but I doubt Fassbender is going to play Edward Kenway. I think Fassbender is going to play an original character, thus the movie becomes a part of the series lore in the way that AC The Fall did.
