I once pulled a dog out of a car in which it had been left on a hot Summer day. It belonged to a little old man who was eating in my restaurant. I realized too late that he had her in his car and I was too late to save her, she died in my hands, convulsing and so hot it felt like she came out of an oven. It amazes me that people don't realize how quickly a car can heat up to a lethal temperature, so be aware of man's best friend and leave him at home if you're going somewhere where you need to leave him/her in the car.
Thanks all.
Jimmy

I had a similar situation where I pulled out of a dog in a...nevermind.
Actually its great advice. As a dog owner it pains me to see and hear things like this.Rocky Raccoon, Big E, HardKoreXXX and 1 other person like this. -

Buzz never stays in the car, I like my stuff to much to let him chew it up!

I always leave the AC on and the windows/doors locked if I have to go in somewhere with my dog in the car (but usually whenever the dog is in the car its a joy ride for her and I already know I won't go in anywhere since I don't like leaving her in the car unattended but when I do have to run in the AC has to be on).
Good tips Ope and its a good rule if you have kids too. :wink2:opfinistic, dolphindebby and section411 like this. -
Thanks Ope, Great advice.
I do the AC thing too if I'm making a quick run.
While we're at it, another thing easily forgotten in the summer heat is walking your dog, blacktop and concrete can get REALLY hot so keep their little tootsies in mind.opfinistic likes this. -
Way to go op.
People that do that to their pets shouldn't be allowed to have any.
And I don't even want to say what I think when some one leaves a child in the car under ANY circumstances.opfinistic likes this. -
Yeah. That's about as dumb and irresponsible as you get. -

I never take my dog anywhere he can't go inside with me. I'll take him to Petco, and to people's houses, but I won't take him with and leave him in the car while I run errands.
Not only do I not want to leave him in a hot car (or COLD car, winter here in MN), but I'm also too afraid somebody will kidnap him when I'm not around... -

I have 'busted' a few people for it recently.
I usually check to see if the dog is in distress. If it is, I call the police immediately. If not, I'll wait for 15-20 minutes.
If no one shows, I go into the store I think they might be in and ask them to be paged.
If they dont show in another 5 minutes I call the Police.
Fastest time the Police and Fire Dept. have shown up (3 minutes).
