This is one of the most disgusting, vile habits I've ever seen. I've walked my girls to school when I see guys and girls (where I live it's equal opportunity spittage) spitting on the ground right in front of us and had to navigate around it because the thought of walking through that nastiness makes me gag. This morning I was walking to the grocery store, minding my own business, when I heard that noise that only means you're getting ready to hawk up a lugy. Passing a second story building with an abuttment where the guy who was on the second floor couldn't see me until I was right under him, which is the time who chose to spit it out right on me and my beautiful new jacket that Jason gave me at the party. Thank goodness he didn't hit my face with that gross stuff when I happened to look up to say - wtf? And didn't even bother to apologize - just laughed. Can you all please try and be polite (if you're spitters) and make sure no one is in the way?
This is beyond disgusting not to mention unhealthy. I honestly don't know anybody out of the 6th grade that think its appropriate to "Hock a Lugie" Very sorry this happened to you of all people Miss Mary...
When I lived in Florida, I never heard the only thing I've heard since I lived up here - that Newark is considered the garbage capital of the world. And I live in a "good", "exclusive" section of Newark - supposedly - North Newark (Forest Hills Section). And this guy had to be in his 50s or 60s, which IMO is way too old to be acting like that. And to laugh? No class at all.
i used to have a habit of spitting but i stopped, i dont remember when...thats gross though you should've took a rock and threw it at him, and walked away laughing.
That's what I just responded to Section, Kenny. If you remember, I was introduced to that "art" by a Jets fan who spit on me when I lived in East Orange. Now, East Orange, I understand, but where I live? Thanks hon.
Glad you stopped! Now, now, don't want to get charged with assault, although I wonder if he had hit me in the face, if that could be construed as assault. I mean, bodily fluids and all, you know? To see a man do it disgusting, but a woman? Even worse.
You would hate me. I sit on my porch and spit at the lizards, I have an 80% accuracy rating when you factor in +/- 1 inch for the wind.
I envision you, sitting on your porch, your cousin sittng next to you playing his banjo, both of you in nothing but overalls sitting and spitting at Lizards......of course it doesn't matter cause nobody lives nearby......for miles.......
You want to spit on your own porch Jimmy - you spit on your own porch - could never hate ya! Long as I can't see it. I hated those little suckers when I lived down in Sunrise. Wouldn't spit at them but I swear every time there was one in my house and I picked it up by the tail (which is the only place I would pick it up) the tail would fall off. Those little lizards and palmetto bugs I can't stand.
Ewwwww....Opie in nothing but overalls. I do believe that would be referred to as "swamp ***". Sorry Mary...I'm in NY...it's mandatory to make at least one Jersey joke per day.
I was born in Elizabeth, New Jersey and used to take alot of trips back to see relatives.... once they moved back to Florida...I have not gone back since. I wonder why.
that guy deserves to get his teeth kicked in Mary...the bastard. that said, spitting is gross but its a necessary evil for me. i spit to clear my nose. but it is disgusting, and i try to make sure no one is around or looking when i do it. i dont just spit for the sake of spitting.
With all due respect, you spit to clear your nose? Do you also sneeze to clear the wax out of your ears? Do you go #2 just to clear out #1? Brother, in the stores they sell this stuff, its called Kleenex. Go buy some, it's great stuff and doesn't cost much.
because elizabeth is one of 6 or 7 towns in NJ that is widely considered "gross". the majority of the state is beautiful. but the rest of the world chooses to see: Trenton Newark The Oranges Camden Patterson Elizabeth funny part about the draft party at Miami Mike's, id be shocked if any of the out of state attendees could afford to live in East Hanover. like i said, the vast majority of NJ has superior culture, police/troopers, schools, public service, and communities. our typical cops have 4 year degrees and make close to, if not 6 figures, our typical teachers have masters degrees. its an unprecedented standard of living.
Its really why Men have always supported the "Swallow" over the "Spit" any day of the week! Finally a woman on board with this logic!
I spit when I'm doing yardwork and a whole bunch of dust gets kicked up by the leaf vacuum but I'm usually right down the road from opie on his porch in overalls with his brother playing the banjo... and they really don't mind.
oh that really sucks. i wouldve at least gave the guy the bird. im a gentleman, so i usually let the women know when im ready to spit.
I've heard that spitting relieves stress and reduces the risk of cancer. It's recommended that everyone spit 100 times per day. Bonus points are awarded for accuracy.
Couldn't have said it better myself. Those who hate NJ can GFY. And like you said, I'd bet the majority couldn't afford to live in at least the decent places of NJ anyway, let alone Bergen County (Top 3 in the United States I believe). I think the last time I checked, we had 3 counties in the Top 10 of living expenses because they're AWESOME. (and of course near NYC).
I prefer the Jersey Shore and Ocean County (Born and Bred) myself...Jackson Township in the heart of the county and all the surrounding farm/garden land was the best as a kid...from Beaches to Six Flags not a better place to grow up.
Was anyone else expecting this thread to be followed up by an "Attention Swallowers of the World" thread before reading the actual post, because I was kinda...just saying
I tend to spit a lot. I think it has something to do with Memphis weather and my sinuses. Most of the time I can't help. I'm usually pretty conscious about where I spit though.
ok you got me man. i might not be able to afford living in jersey. the question isn't "can i afford it" it's "why would I want to in the first place"? i don't care about these things: superior culture is debatable as to what kind of culture you enjoy. police and troopers can't be that good if there are that many ugly sections of the state schools are debatable as to what kind of schooling you're going for.. for example daytona has a very decent aerospace program. MIT has a nice science program.. and neither of which are in jersey. communities are also debatable depending on what kind of community you like.. i like the kind that doesn't bother me and i can find that anywhere for the most part - especially in big cities. and we have adaquate public transportation here as well. so explain to me why I would want to live there? it's not a question of "is this state better than that state" it's what can i get in jersey that i can't get anywhere else in the united states or the rest of the world? why pay more when you can enjoy life on less?
They eat the palmetto bugs, so there's no harm there. Now I've got two or three curly tailed Cuban lizards on my porch that I have trained to eat from my hand. It freaks my wife out because they don't run from her anymore, in fact, they run towards us (if the dogs are not present) hoping for a piece of bologna or something.
Throw in Brucey Stink-Stink and the poor State starts out with 2 strikes against it.....HOWEVER, I personally feel that Mary, Greg, Seth and our other Jersey bretheren and sisteren outweigh those two Of course the second story spitting douchebag isn't helping their cause much
Don't get me wrong. There are areas of Jersey that are gorgeous. East Hanover, Livingston, Montague (where my friend Renee lives) and many others are all beautiful and very expensive. I certainly couldn't afford even the taxes to live in those areas.
