if you really want to play the original game, how many stories of a forbidden love have been produced like I don't know romeo and juliet?

There are probably 2 or 3 movies released a year that are actually original

I think originality is kind of a hard thing to judge. Even shakespeare got the idea from some of his characters from plays, poems, etc. Writers need inspiration from somewhere...............
I actually like when a horror movie, comedy, drama, etc, do a take on a classic story if done well, and avatar I thought though long, was done pretty decently.

Yeah, definitely a story we've heard before, but IMO it wasn't as similar as that awful Benjamin Button movie was to Forrest Gump.

When it all boils down a piece of crap in 3D, is just a 3D piece of ****.

I thought this review hit it perfectly. Don't read it if you are planning to see the movie, it does contain spoliers. But I'm not sure how you can spoil a trite story like this. 5 minutes into the movie you know exactly what is going to happen.
He hits the nail on the head:

I do want to admit the movie was absolutely beautiful, and even breathtaking at points. But the fact of the matter is that this CGI fellatio can never make up for the terrible story. 1/2 a billion dollars wasn't enough to write something remotely original. I went to the movies to see a story unfold, if I wanted nature I would have went outside.

I thought the movie was awesome. Saw it in IMAX 3-D with my sons. Of course everyone knew how the movie was going to end. That didn't take away from the movie experience.

The whole time I saw the movie I was thinking of Robert Conrad's heart of darkness. If you haven't read it it's about english ivory harvesters in the Congo jungle. Well a man is sent after this head guy who has gone "native" and become one of the african tribes people. The whole time I was watching the movie I kept thinking Jake was going native, thanks high school english.

Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Complete was an awesome movie to watch. Avatar was just condescending and transparent.

I was rooting for the Marines.

I saw it, I liked it... great visually... story was good enough to keep it going for almost three hours... kind of how I felt about Star Wars after I first saw it.

white guy joins tribe somehow, becomes most awesome member

Dances with Wolves, Dune, District 19, Pocahontas, Last Samurai...

and probably a whole lot more I can think of

most movies are just really variations on a handful of really common themes. That we watch essentially the same stories over and over again is probably something that speaks to the human psyche. Or, to be more controversial in this case, at least the white psyche

I am someone who loves to root for the bad guy. I was sad in Star Wars when Darth Vader lost and Cobra was always my favorite.

I do not see how anyone could root for the Marines. They were so boring. My biggest problem with the movie is the fact that the Marines were so boring that the choice the main guy had to watch was very easy to make.

Either join these awesome blue guys or these evil soulless personalitless marines.

The article I linked is pretty much a mirror of my thoughts, including why I was rooting for the Marines.
