Hi all,
You'd think as a mod, I would know if this is int he right forum, but I don't. Please forgive me if it isn't. :wink2:
There was some milk that spilled on the rug and car mats of my minivan. I tried cleaning it, but the stench is pretty bad, now. Any idea how I can get rid of the stench. Sorry I can't think how this is Dolphin or ThePhins related.
Thanks!

Raul,
Take from a father, the problem is not the Car-mats!
If you want to stay away from the stench...get rid of the kid
Seriously, go to a do it yourself Car-wash and hose those babies off. Most have the clips on the wall of the stall you can clip your car-mats to and use a combo of the brush and hose. 2.00 is a small token to pay for that bad smell...
Fabreze works to some extent, but it really is only masking it.
For the record, spilled milk in the summer here goes bad in ohhhhh about 17 seconds  -

Take the mats out and hose them off Ala AZ then use White Vinegar on the carpet it will take a day or two before the Vinegar smell diminishes, but it will knock out the spoiled milk stench..

Which store would have enzyme spray? -
-
Don't worry about enzymes. Unless you can find a spray that contains lactase or β-galactosidase, it won't work. Those are the two prominent enzymes that work on milk but I doubt that either will take care of the smell. The smell is most likely a byproduct of microbial degradation of the milk proteins. Washing the mat with soapy water then rinsing the mat with hot water should work. The Rev, azfinfanmang and like2god like this.

I dunno if you'd want to take the time and money but some professional cleaning services can do a good job but bad milk is tough to remove.

Sure, just piss all over my answer with your scientific mumbo jumbo. :pity:
