http://www.miamiherald.com/sports/spt-columns-blogs/barry-jackson/article134029989.html I don't think it's a bad idea. Sims was a huge reason for the running game last year, and as Jackson notes in his article, Thomas has had some injuries the past couple years.
I don't get it. I wouldn't call Sims a good or great blocker. I see an inconsistent blocker at best and can remember times this season when he's ruined running plays by himself. IMO, it's his receiving where he appeared to improve this year.
Everybody misses blocks, I was particularly critical of his game against San Francisco. However, there are games where Sims really shines.
I'm on board with this move. Sims is a good #2 TE for us and should pair nicely with Thomas. Sims is probably the better blocker of the two also, but he's able to make plays in the passing game. Averaged about 10 yards per catch last year, 4 TD's, and picked up 14 first downs good enough for 4th on the team in that area behind the obvious Landry, Stills and Parker. All in all he plays a pretty reliable game all the way around. Not upset with this, nor surprised by it at all.
