If I were coach Philbin I would start viewing Mike Pouncey, Reggie Bush, Jake Long, and Randy Starks as the cornerstones of the team culture I'm trying to develop, and get those guys locked up long-term.

Players can say anything they want to about Philbin, good or bad. It all eventually comes down to wins and losses and right now the Dolphins have yet to win a game under Philbin. It is still way to early to judge Philbin as a HC in the NFL. I think we will all know more about Philbin and the coaching staff after this season is over.

Plus, everything has a context. Philbin is coming in as a first-year head coach trying to develop a team culture, and he's pointing these things out to players as a way to get them to pay attention to detail.
You can contrast that with a head coach who's been with the same team for a while (Shula), talking to a player who needs no instruction in that regard (Marino). It's entirely possible that Philbin would adjust his approach accordingly in that situation. It's not like the guy's an idiot. -

What I want to know is how Crowder would know how Marino would react. He never played with Marino.
