Barry Jackson Sports Buzz: Rishard Matthews unhappy, asked for trade

I'll put it this way. I hope Joe Philbin proves me wrong and leads Miami to the playoffs.

Do I think he will? No. And, I really don't think he brings much to the table. He's not an X's and O's guy; not a play-caller; not a motivator; he's an organizer, and even then I've seen enough questionable management decisions in-game to make me want him gone. For someone whose an organizer, this team falls flat on its face too many ways and too frequently to make me think he's doing a good job at leading them to...anything. That look he had before the finale against the Jets game last year is stuck with me.

Brings to mind a quote from Patton: "Never tell people how to do things. Tell them what to do and let them surprise you with their ingenuity." To me that seems to be Joe Philbin's mindset, but he doesn't have the stature/reputation/aura to be that guy.

Just my opinion.

 

Boy I sure am glad Landry is getting so much playing time…
