I say no for a couple reasons.
1. Albert Pujols (even if healthy) is not going to overshadow D. Lee's numbers by that huge of a margin IMO. Lee plays in a VERY hitter friendly ball park and has had decent numbers the last few years when healthy.
2. Because of Point #1, its not worth giving up arguably your best starting pitcher for Albert.
I think your trade partner is getting the better of the deal. If it was one of your 2nd tier pitchers or he was offering a guy like Hanley who fills up more stat categories Id say maybe, but Id have to decline his/her offer.TheAnswer385 likes this. -

yeah im shying away from it but kinda needed that little extra support..when you see the name pujols in the trade you really need to think about it. i think if ervin wasn't in it i would pull the trigger.
I love matt kemp but im not really worried about losing him because i have soriano coming back.
I am currently in 2nd place and im trying to decided if there is something i need to upgrade(that is realistic). Kendrick and Victorino are my weakest hitters however im not going to get matt holliday for them. So im not sure what to do -
Actually, I have seen a Victorino and someone similarly as bad as Kendrick for Holliday get accepted today, so start sending out stupid trade offers, apparently they're getting accepted or someone switched the reject button with the accept button. -
You'd be giving up way too much. Pull Santana out of the deal and then it'd be better.

I would take it. Lee is not one to be counted on as he is injury prone. Kemp is going to lose playing time because LA will have 4 OF's for 3 spots once Pierre gets healthy. And frankly, while I like Santana, hes the only chip out of that bunch i really like. Pujols is Pujols, and with Soriano back on the 24th, its a no brainer to me.
If you want to push it, counter it, include Kendrick's injury prone butt and see if you can get a hitter upgrade at the util spot and grab a couple FA pitchers to stream..... -
You can count on Lee. He's played 150 games last season and all of this season while only being injured ONCE in 2006 in a freak accident no one but Superman can bounce back quickly from, and that has since been fully recovered. Being injured once doesn't mean you're injury prone. Hardly. Otherwise you can throw Pujols in there too for missing time this season, making it moot.
Kemp losing playing time to Andruw Jones or Juan Pierre? The RBI leader and one of the few if any power hitters of the team for a guy batting less than .200? If Torre really does that, he should be put to pasture. I think it's Pierre and Jones/Ethier that would be alternated based on matchup. Kemp is too valuable to the Dodgers to be put on the bench for multiples stints. When Soriano gets back, dump Kendrick and find someone else for the bench.
But if you still want Pujols for whatever reason, then take out Santana and Kemp (unless you ask for a decent outfielder or pitcher in return) and include Kendrick or a lower-tier pitcher like Lowe. -
As far as Kemp's situation for the rest of this year:
With furcal out, someone has to hit leadoff. Kemp hasnt shown the best plate discipline to handle the role and is more of a middle of the order bat except hes been to inconsistent to hit there as well. So thats probably Pierre who is also making 10 million this year.
Andruw Jones as bad as hes been is your only proven middle of the order bat. With their team in the middle of the NL west and 25 million more to pay the guy do they have a choice but to hope he regains form and starts hitting like Andruw Jones? Hes also your only proven power option.
And lastly, youre not going to just stop playing Andre Ethier....
Again, I wouldnt throw Santana in it unless I was getting more back but I wouldnt let it hold me up either...
Edit: And no Im not the one who offered the deal. -
I read the local papers here, there is no indication Kemp will miss any time. And he gives you RBI's and SB's (Pierre just gives you the latter). And he's been pretty good so far in the leadoff role and gradually earning Torre's respect. I think Andruw Jones is done. He had a poor hitting average now and it's even worse in Dodger Stadium. And it's getting worse, hard as it is to believe. Honestly, I'd send Shane Victorino out before Kemp. -
Lee has played 50 and 150 the last 2 years coming in to this. Hes good but hes only had 1-100 rbi season, not exactly heading for another this year, and generally hits about 30-40 points below Pujols BA. While Lee can put up 295-95runs-25-90-and 7-10 steals Pujols is generally around 330-110-40-120-7-10 steals. To me thats worth Matt Kemp especially since Roto favors quality over roster quantity when there are per game limits at each position. -
Right now, both Lee and Pujols are on track for similar stats. Pujols has the slight edge in HR and Lee has the slight edge in RBI's and on track for 100 RBI's. Looking at the rest of the roster, I'd rather dump Victorino off and keep Kemp for the Utility spot. A trade of Lee, Victorino for Pujols is fair in my opinion. -
And its not just Kemp thats going to lose AB's. No one in that OF is a good bet right now. Jones is stinking it up, Pierre is a 1 stat fantasy player (maybe 2 the years he hits over 300 or has a good run production season), Ethier is ok but not great, and Kemp who is good is going to have some AB's lost. While I dont think it will be a platoon situation instead of playing 7 days a week I think kemp may only play 5 and I think that may be the case with all of them.... -

Thats a matter of opinion regan, but I look at Pujols and Lee and its not really close. Theres a reason Pujols usually goes in the top 3 and Lee usually goes in the 4th-5th round.
Pujols (This year-Career):
BA:348-333
Runs: 49-121
HR: 19-40
RBI: 50-123
SB: 3-5
Lee (this year-5 best seasons of his career):
BA: 306-283
Runs: 63-96
HR: 15-33
RBI: 56-93
SB: 5-15
For comparison purposes I only took Lee's 5 best seasons in every stat except BA and he still doesnt measure up to Pujols. The discrepency certainly warrants Matt kemp or Shane Victorino unless its a keeper because Kemp does have excellent value long term. Pujols beats him pretty bad in every stat except SB's and it gets worse if we include things like OPS. -
Boik, are those numbers spread out over an entire season enough to justify also giving away his pitcher in Santana?
I agree, if he can give up a 2nd tier starter than he should probably pull the trigger. I wouldnt worry about Kemp too much. (Sorry Coach) -
-
To me its worth Kemp and Lee. I suppose if you really felt strongly about Pujols having a monster 2nd half you could even justify keeping Ervin Santana in it seeing as how Pujols can go one of his tears and just kill the competition for a few weeks. -
now with how hot kendrick has been im not really sure what i should do now that Soriano is back...I also added Troy Tulo so ill be dropping O.Cabrera. My debate has been 1st who to move: Kendrick, Victorino, or even Kemp. 2nd what are they worth...i feel they all have value to not be dropped but i don't really know what i should expect in return. Even Cabrera is worth something since hes a top 12 SS but what could i get back?
