HBO Special tonight at 9:00, should be good. It is college basketball's fiercest rivalry: Duke and North Carolina. The heated competition between the nation's two most accomplished men's college hoops programs is showcased in this one-hour documentary. No matter their records or rankings, these two teams gear up with one common goal in mind: to beat their cross-town archrivals twice in the regular season. The film traces the history of the rivalry and examines the different cultures and characteristics of each team's respective program. The high-profile list of interviewees from the Blue Devils and the Tar Heels include Hall of Fame coaches Dean Smith and Mike Krzyzewski and all-time great players Michael Jordan, James Worthy, Charlie Scott, Grant Hill, Johnny Dawkins and Christian Laettner
"between the nation's two most accomplished men's college hoops programs" The only college hoops team I like More then Carolina is Syracuse but i think both UCLA and Kentucky would have quite a bit to say about calling UNC and Duke the two most accomplished hoops programs. Theyre the two best in recent years but calling them the two most accomplished is just plain wrong. Duke in particular was flat out bad until Coach K came in.
Agreed. Record 11 NCAA championships doesn't put us as most accomplished? Heck, even in the recent 3 years, we've reached 3 straight Final Fours. Something Duke sure as hell hasn't even come close. HBO should do a little fact checking there.
theyre probably the most well known rivalry but not the most accomplished......well....at least not duke.
