ANCHORAGE, Alaska - A 14-year-old girl riding in a mountain bike race was attacked in the dark of night by a bear Sunday and severely injured, but she was able to make a brief 911 call that eventually resulted in her rescue. Sows are ten times worse than boars, especially when they have cubs. That would be my guess as well.sure feel sorry for the girl. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/25446868
Basic rule of living in dangerous animal areas is to always be in pairs at least, ESPECIALLY at night. Just glad she wasnt killed!
Their just being bears; man. Can't really blame them for that. She was lucky; if that had been a black bear she would/could have been eaten. Black bears are much worse about that than Grizzlies.
Seen some pretty big black bears here in North Georgia, and they are enough to make the hair on the back of your neck stand up. I can't imagine what it's like to come up on a big ol grizzly. Thank goodness she's alright.
Humans on their territory = this kinda thing happening. Wouldn't you maul someone who was in your backyard?
Good thinkin'. If its a bear, I'm not looking down under if its a boy or girl. If its a woman, she is welcome for a tour around Alen's home, specifically my room.
Thats exactly it... said it before in another thread, but this is what happens when we keep going out further and further into the wild with our homes etc... most animals are territorial naturally, when you get in their space, they freak the same way we would, its not the bears fault at all. Not that I'm blaming the girl either... but im just saying..
