You know after all the money they have shelled out elsewhere you would think this wouldn't be an issue for them. They need to keep this guy happy. Special Teams is what has made them successful to a degree. He deserves more.

 

Considering Hester is the Bears best playmaker (especially offensively/special teams) I would think that they could give him some more money. However not too much as he hasn't proven himself as a WR so he shouldn't get a ridiculous deal but a better deal is warranted because he's earned it.

 

If he develops into a solid WR he could be special. Steve Smith special. But with crappy QB play that is never going to happen.

 

Agreed. Hester is a special special talent he amazes me whenever he gets the ball in his hands. His speed and agility abilities are ridiculous. The guy doesn't need open space to get a TD so with a better QB and some yet unproven abilities to be a WR he could be one of the better WRs in the league.

 

as conservative as the Bears are on Offense it amazes me they didnt run more screens with him last yr. They primarily used him as a decoy which didnt work because they never really passed it to him.

 

He's a gamebreaker. He needs to get paid.

Why are people giving Hester credit for offensive success? He played DB at Miami, was drafted by Chicago as a DB, and played DB at the pro level for the last two years. He's only now been moved to WR--a transition that was tried and failed during his time in Miami.

IMO, Hester should have waited until this season to succeed as a WR, and then spent the 2009 offseason negotiating a contract extension that reflected his true value to the organization.

 

That is what alot of the experts are saying. That he isnt really categorized as a wr or a cb, just as a returner, which return guys dont make alot of money. But he is the best return man in the game.

 

He is the best on offensive by default. Can you honestly even name one Bear offensive skill position starter you would rather have on the Dolphins roster? I can't.

Also as my original post said Hester has to prove his self as a WR.

Fair enough but still it doesn't answer the question of who is better on the Bears offense at a skill position than Hester. Hester may not be a proven WR but out of all the WRs on that team most people and GMs would take Hester just for his returning skills.

Yes, but you cant discredit Hester for what he does for his team. He's not just a good returner in the sense that he is just incredibly fast. He has great vision, he see's the field excellently. Hester or Cribbs, I take Hester any day. Cribbs has more to offer as a player, but Hester is simply the best return man in the NFL. When they think about making a rule or changing the way the game is played due to you, or the way teams play you, how can anyone deny the impact of a player like that?

 

Hester has single handedly won games for da' Bears.
He scored more touchdowns than Rex Grossman did last year.
Pay the guy already!
