You may all know that on 9/9/09 they are releasing the beatles albums remastered, you can either buy the Mono set, $30 more than the Stereo. What is the difference, and which one should i get, i do know the Beatles originally released their albums in Mono, all except let it be and abbey road
Stereo means the sounds move around from speaker to speaker, certain instruments come in on one side, others on the other side. It's basically just the movement of the sound. Mono means everything just comes though as one big sound. Honestly, I don't think there is much of a difference either way. You'll still get the complete sound no matter what.
I am thinking of buying the limited mono set twice, as its limited addition, one for myself, and one i will sell down the road, you never know if its worth money in the future...worst comes to worst, ill probably get my same value i paid for it
beatles had a lot of left/right effects in their songs that might sound better in stereo, especially if you have a nice enough system.
I don't understand why the mono would be more expensive than the stereo? Isn't stereo more advanced technology? It seems stereo would be better.
This thread has also given me the idea of going to a karaoke bar and requesting number 9. Then for the next ten minutes just saying number 9-number 9-number 9. That shouldn't tick anybody off to bad. I wonder if anyone has ever done this?
I am guessng now but the mono version may be closer to the orginal recording version thus more authentic. Its the one the Beatles themselves approved for publication. The stereo version may some mixing engineers version of the original tracks .Even though you may be hearing sounds from different speakers it may not be what the original artists had in mind. Its like comparing a real diamond which is imperfect to a zirconia which is perfect....but is not a diamond.
Apparently The Beatles Mono Box Set is sold out, im glad i pre-ordered mine when i did, i am not contemplation opening it
