Bears: Benson could be phased out?
    The News
Cedric Benson could be phased out of the Bears' plans at running back in 2008, according to Fannation.com. Lovie Smith had lunch with Arkansas rushers Darren McFadden and Felix Jones on Monday, and the team will reportedly scout the Razorbacks' pro day.

    Our View
The interest in their backs could mean that Benson's rehab from a fractured left ankle is behind schedule and that he is possibly being phased out of their plans.

thats disappointing news for Benson. I thought he was going to be great when he made it to the nfl. But the bears never seemed to try and use them. Rightly so I guess since Thomas Jones was still running wild for them, but it seemed like benson was just starting to get rolling last year when he got hurt too, thats a shame for him. If he can fully recover, I don't see him being out of work too long.

Bears head coach Lovie Smith met with Arkansas running backs Darren McFadden and Felix Jones on Monday.

The Bears were thought to be seeking an offensive tackle with the 14th pick, but the pursuit of competition for RB Cedric Benson could be genuine. It has been suspected that Benson's rehabilitation from a fractured left ankle is not going smoothly, in which case he could be phased out of the team's plans.

Injuries never make a player a bust IMO, unless there were injury flags before you drafted him.

And he has a 3.8 ypc for career.
