bbc.
The shows are original.
Their documentaries are outstanding.
One could argue pbs would also be a descent choice. -

I'd go with AMC for entertainment (SciFi is a close #2) and BBC World on PBS at 11:30 pm if I'm up
-
-
Eh, it's the winter though, when spring rolls around I tend to lose track of what show comes on what night.
Other thing is, there is the niche category of shows that I like but they are scattered around networks:
-Gold Rush
-Bering Sea Gold (amazingly hardcore, guy sleeping in a burnt out truck squatting in a bucket hardcore)
-Moonshiners b/c some of those fellas literally operate in my neck of the woods -
-
-
HBO. Not even close.
-
USA, but no Showtime?
-
-
FX is also a force. "The Americans" is amazing. "American Horror Story" also of course. Plus though I haven't watched them, people seem to love "Sons of Anarchy", "Justified", "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" and "The League".
Right now from the choices I'd go with AMC. And speaking of HBO, "Enlightened" is pretty great.Colorado Dolfan likes this. -

Yeah I like The Americans so far. It comes on wednesdays at like 10 I think padre, gonna' go watch it right now lol.

Their have been good shows on all of these networks IMO, but HBO/Showtime have the edge because they don't have to censor anything. Plus no commercials so longer air time.
-
out of ABC, CBS, FOX, and NBC, ABC is by far the worst. Other then Lost of course. CBS has big bang theory which I enjoy, and HIMYM, other then that I dont watch CBS, I hate their drama's (CSI, CSI NY, CSI Miami, Hawaii 5.0) Fox had good shows in the best, 24 and now the Following but they are to quick to cancel shows. NBC has the same issue with Dramas, they canceled a great show in awake, but they are the best network for comedy, Office, Parks and Recs, Community, ect...Only show I watch on AMC is Breaking Bad, and Showtime I watch Dexter. To be honest, my favorite network is TBS. Has Big Bang Theory, Friends, The Office, Seinfeld and Conan. So yeah TBS is my favorite network. I also like USA because of previous shows like Monk and current shows like Psych

Are we talking right now or all time? Because right now probably AMC (Mad Men, Breaking Bad, Walking Dead) or Showtime (Homeland, Dexter, Shameless) have the better shows. If we're talking all time then it would probably have to be HBO (Sopranos, Curb, Oz, The Wire, Deadwood, etc) or a network channel like NBC (Seinfeld, Cheers, Friends) or FOX (Simpsons, Married With Children, 24). Although FX has had some very good shows on in the past and now.
Kind of a hard poll to vote in because certain channels are really good at one type of show whether it's comedy, drama or whatever.Paul 13 likes this. -
You also have a bunch of other great shows on HBO like Eastbound and Down, Veep, Angry Boys, Curb Your Enthusiasm, etc. -
I don't have HBO and haven't ever seen a series from that channel, but on the 'free promo weekends' I watch their movies. Except for football, to me the Networks blow. I don't even bother with them.
I choose AMC. I'm hooked on 'The Walking Dead' and I watch their movies, plus they own my other favorite channel, IFC. -
I guess that I dont understand the poll. To me, the major networks are very, very different in their styles and quality, and have been for 25 years at least. I can think of dozens of shows that simply "belong" on one of those that would seem out of place on another.
I never have and never will pay for any one channel (outside of Sunday Ticket, if you include that). Based on commercials, Ive never had any interest in seeing anything thats been on HBO. Although a friend lent me the DVDs to Dead Like Me, which was on Showtime about a decade ago, and it was an awesome show that ended very quickly for some reason.
For a similar reason, I became a huge fan of Coupling from the BBC, but havent seen much else on BBC America that Ive taken to.
Nothing on AMC has ever gotten my desire up enough to watch an episode.
Historicaly, Ive always been a big NBC guy. I love their style. Community is easily my favorite current show. However, most of the current shows that I like are on FOX (Bones, New Girl, Mindy Project, Raising Hope). ABC has had good shows, but they come and go, an are often cancelled quickly (Pushing Daisies, Flash Forward). Ive never liked anything on CBS. -

Does History count? There is a lot of fluff and reality stuff, but there last three miniseries have been really good: men who built America, America the story of us, the bible. Very good quality. Is a channel that is trending up, even for non-nerds

Voted HBO because of The Wire, Entourage and How to Make it in America.
If you're an entourage fan, you will like How to Make it in America.
Even though it didn't get renewed after season 2, IMO, has the best intro of any TV Show i've ever watched.
