It's funny. I identify with nerds who want girls. I was one myself. That's why I became a dating coach who teaches nerds how to get hot girls. Good show.
Maybe the commercials for the show don't do it justice, but judging from them, it just doesn't look funny to me at all.
I am turned off by comedy shows with laugh tracks but my sons watch it and I have been caught chuckling as I have peeked.
Being a science nerd, I did give it a few chances. Got a couple chuckles, but nothing laughing out loud. I do agree with Aqua that there hasn't been a good sitcom on the network channels in a long time, pretty much since Seinfeld went off the air.
I thought the Office was really good during the first three seasons. I am a huge fan of Scrubs and Community. I also am not much of a sitcom fan anymore. I watched too many sitcoms when I grew up.
Then with all due respect...shut up. If you've never watched New Girl or How I Met Your Mother, you have no business judging them. I loathe "typical" sitcoms. I cannot speak for BBT because I've never seen it (see how that works).
He does have a good point. Too many people have opinions on things they do not know anything about. Also sometimes things suck in promos and are funny and sometimes promos are awesome and the show sucks. Using a promo to judge a show is like judging a girls ability to give a ******* by her smile.
Big Bang Theory does have its fair share of predictable jokes. Some of the episodes are forgettable and I do loathe the laugh track as they just abuse it. However, I still find it entertaining on the whole and I'm someone who rarely watches tv, let alone sitcoms. But obviously people have different senses of humor.
One thing to remember is context. Jokes are generally more funny when they are in the context of the show. I would say give a show at least 3 episodes then you can make a good solid opinion about it. However that also leads me up to another problem with your generation. Yes I am going Grandpa Simpson on your ***! Why does everything have to be awesome or crap? Why can't something be good, however not your taste? It is like you Mike Myers playing the Scottsman on SNL. "If it is not Scottish, it is crap!"
Yeah, that was a good show, but not great. The one I loved in college was NewsRadio. Phil Hartman was great in that show. Early Cheers was funny.
I end up DVRing about 3 minutes of this show after Office (which is terrible now) and if you want to talk about douche chillingly terrible laugh tracks and predictable jokes, look no further than - She's hot and hilarious at roasts, but this show is unwatchable. Besides the Simpsons, there are very few network sitcoms I can stomach. And Chuck Lorrey's (sp?) brand of humor just rubs me the wrong way.
I like Big Bang Theory. I have to throw this out there. No one mentioned Friends as a great sitcom from the past. I think that's a shame. That show was the best.
Thank you. I forgot to mention. Modern Family is AWESOME! I also know it is not for everyone, however I love Community.
I've been trying to find time to watch Modern Family given it's popularity, but still haven't seen it.
I find it humorous. Not ZOMG funny, but pretty damn funny. If an episode I haven't seen is on, Ill stop what im doing and watch it.
I enjoy BBT, I've been watching it since it premiered in 2007. I just found it on accident while I was flipping through channels in a hotel room while TDY in Texas. Modern Family is probably my favorite sitcom on TV right now. I like Raising Hope as well.
I love the Big Bang Theory! I think it's hilarious, but then again I could relate to the nerd in high school seeing I was one of the band geeks. Friends????? I'll admit I never really gave the show much of a chance but the little bit I did see of it, I didn't care for.
I hate the Big Band Theory. One of the worst shows on the networks that keeps getting renewed. Goods Shows: 30 Rock, Parks and Recreation, and Archer. It's Always Sunny and the Office have sucked in recent seasons/episodes.
