I hear that! :D That's what I and others have been preaching. :)Very true. Of course both would be nice. ;)I wonder about that sometimes. :DWooo!

I read that article earlier today. And I agree with him about Griese. (I agree with the entire article for that matter). The guy has/had some game and could have done a good job for us behind a good o-line. His accuracy was always his strongest asset - much the same as Pennington. But you have to have some time back there. He got hammered with our line back then.

We've got the outsides and main interior piece of our oline locked up. I'm not concerned about Grove's injuries. People get hurt. If you had 300 lb guys clawing to stomp you into the ground on every down of every game you'd probably get injured too.
I'm behind this regime until they show me they don't know what they're doing (very unlikely). We might not produce a winner next year; but we'll damn sure try - and build for the future at the same time.PMZQ, Sceeto and steveincolorado like this. -
Think about it....David Woodley, with a lifetime QB rating of 65.7 helped get us to a Super Bowl. But he had Pro Bowlers keeping him upright.

IMO a great OL with a stud QB and a stud WR along with so-so at the other skill positions will get you pretty far. If you add in a D with stud DT, a couple of stud pass rushers and a stud S along with so-so everywhere else, you have a SB contender.

The G-men have shown how to do it in the league...have a strong, diversely talented DL and front seven to keep pressure on opposing QBs and have a strong, adequate run game that can run the ball on anyone...that's how to win championships in this league...It makes your QB look better, it makes your RBs look better and your WR look better than they might really be. The jury is still out as to whether Eli is his brothers ability or he's just another above average QB in this league...Their WRs are adequate. The RB stable is full and capable. Their secondary is ok. But those two lines are amazing...Thats how to win games consistently in this league...
I believe that the Trio is building this team in that fashion. It's going to be fun to watch them put the pieces together the next couple of years. I think our season last year was even a surprise to the Trio, given the talent level overall in those critical areas. What probably surprised them was the quick development of the front 7 guys they acquired along with Holliday and some of the younger guys that were here...
This year so far, they've built up the OL. The interior looks to be much improved from last year, however, improving off of Alleman, Satele, Ndukwe wasn't difficult. If Smiley and Thomas come back healthy, along with the addition of Grove and the improved depth of Berger, Ndukwe (with another year of development and some starting experience), the interior of the line looks to be much stronger at the POA.
Add in some new wrinkles and some better old wrinkles of the Wildcat and you've got the makings of an OL that can be relied on to have a consistent run game.....
Of course, we still have to play the games...so we'll all just have to wait and see...Sceeto likes this. -
I also agree 100% that if given the pass protection Griese couldve been good enough to take us deep into the postseason with that defense.
Sad to think about, those early 200 Dolphins teams really depress me....we really wasted a championship caliber defense.Sceeto likes this. -
