Sign him. Source: http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap30...-seasons?campaign=tw-nf-sf21785389-sf21785389
i would be more than willing to let vernon go and sign williams who gets to go after rex two times a year.
Really? I take it you guys didn't follow how much of a pain in the *** he was in Buffalo. He's also older w an injury history and looking for one more big payday. **** that.
Would be great if there was no salary cap, but we already gave our fat contract to Suh so sadly we have to pass. Have to learn how to build a good team without breaking the bank on a few players anyway.
vernon wasn't a pain in the ***? the guy was a non factor for the half the season, while being a complete idiot and costing us big penalties, yet the fins have no problem giving him nearly 13 mil on a transition tag. i'm not saying go out and sign williams to a 4 or 5 year deal, but for 1 or 2 years i would take a shot.
Rex is all about "his scheme" and not the individual player. Mario(and any 4-3 DE) is a bad fit. Yes he's older but since 2012 Williams played & started all but 1 game. Tallying 43 sacks. In the same span OV has 29 sacks.
When he's a headache in the lockerroom and doing dumb **** on social media then we'll consider that even. I can only imagine how this fanbase would feel if one of our guys was posting guns w silencers on twitter lol lawd And after all that OV is way younger and a lot less wear and tear. I'm not married to the idea of keeping OV either but Williams is a terrible idea either way imo.
We can't pursue unless we know OV is gone, right? I'm guessing we sign Shelby and stay away from any big name free agents. We still don't know what they're doing with Dion.
Slick is 100% right on this one. Trust me, we do not want him. He is gonna try to get paid one last time.
Part of me believes the reason we are so lax with OV is because they want to switch to the 3-4 sooner than later, I'm not sure Mario Williams would be a part of the remedy with that switch. I don't have anything to substantiate my hunch, I'm only speculating.
I doubt he signs for a 1 or 2 year deal anywhere. He knows time is ticking and he wants one more big check.
He's a good player but with his age, likely contract demands and our cap situation I don't see any way we even entertain signing him.
News flash... Dion Jordan is a complete non factor in all of this. He's nothing more than a wasted draft pick at this point. As for the topic at hand... replace a 25 year old healthy pass rusher entering the prime of his career with a guy who's career is winding down and has health issues. No thanks. I'd rather spend the money for OV
Dion is a factor. He's 1/2 the cost of either and younger than either. Cutting Misi would give Dion a year to be re-evaluated.
You're absolutely right he did, but that's also the hand he has dealt to him at this time. They may want to start morphing the scheme in the future.
I believe that Shelby and Fede are factors. But I'm not listing Dion as a factor. I'd be surprised if Dion even makes it to level of camp body for us again.
He's not a factor, because he likely won't be here this year. His heart isn't into playing football, that's obvious. He can't be relied upon at this point to be factored in. If he comes back, he's likely just a camp body at this point given how out of shape he was the last time we saw him. You can't rely on the guy, I'm not sure why you're even thinking you can at this point..
Does anyone know something about Deon? What is he doing since he got banned? Is his Body in shape for a new start - and the bigger question: is his head ready? The waste of Talent (and a 1rd pick) still angers me. Maybe I missed it but I never heard something specific about him and any possible future with the team from the FO.
You guys are sleeping on : The youngest, 2nd most talented DE....and he's already under contract for next year. Already proven to be effective with 8 sacks in last 24 games, most in which he played less than 20 snaps. Contract year coming up. Watch out for this crazy cat.
Similar to the Dmitri Patterson scenario.... Only Moore is on his cheap rookie contract, not the 2yr-15m Patterson was.
What worries more than the relatively small amount of positive plays, was that he allowed a lot of negative plays by getting out of position. Some negative plays are forgivable when the player is being aggressive, but DJs were when he tried to run around a blocker and ended up running himself out of the play.
YEAH!!!! Let's spend an assload of money on the biggest defensive free agent! Because that worked out so well last year! Oh, wait...
we are 3.5 million over the cap right now after the tag for vernon, interesting what moves will follow to get some money to work with
Yeah, a lot is going to happen in the next six days, but a lot of it can happen pretty simply. Like a lot of people have said, why they haven't made the "easy/obvious" cuts like Jennings is a bit curious, but they must have their reasons.
I think Williams would be a good compliment if we lost vernon. The problem is if you give him 7 mil or so what does that say to your other free agents. Miller has to be the priority, without him we will have a repeat of last year. Sent from my SM-G900T using Tapatalk
