Yeah, they were selling it hard in Buffalo this week to him. They've been waiting for a guy like this since Bruce Smith left.

 

Makes their defense better to be sure. Overall, I'm not worried about him making that team better in terms of wins / losses if the "Amish Rifle" plays like he did at the end of the season. A great player for sure, but a luxury a team without a QB cannot afford, IMHO.

Mario Williams will not win a Super Bowl in Buffalo. He would have had a better chance if he stayed in Houston or went somewhere else.

I'm not looking forward to dealing with this guy twice a season. Not happy, but knew it was coming.

Buffalo is quietly building a solid team with a lot of young talent. They're one quality draft away from becoming the most talented team in the AFCE. Miami should be a little worried.

In all reality you're right. I think both the Dolphins and Bills are about even talent wise. Also, both have some of the same holes that need to be filled. I can see them returning the '90's Bills if they keep trending the way they are. However, like some haev mentioned, Mario better work out because he's eating up a lot of their cap and if he doesn't this deal will set them back.

 

Great signing for Buffalo, but again without a QB, Williams become a luxury signing, nothing more, frankly I cant see this making a difference in the W column for the Bills. JMHO
However at this point we need to sign Winston more then ever.

If he bottoms out for whatever reason it's off to Canada for the Argo-Bills.

 

When do signings like this ever work out for a franchise?

In order for this to be successful, Williams needs to be a 15+ sack guy for the next 5 years. Its not happening.

 

He'll be chasing miami qbs for years to come :(

 

The thing is that Williams is Jake's only weakness.

 

Mario has already been "passed over" in Houston b/c new talent emerged that made him expendable. Being the competitor he is, I don't think he'll want to see that happen again.

He was already given a massive contract as the #1 pick by Houston, and that didn't leave him complacent, so I don't think this one from Buffalo will either. If anything, having Dareus & Williams next to him pushes him to keep his game elevated b/c of the internal competition involving the trio. This is a great signing by Buffalo, terrible one for Miami.

 

2nd rounder Aaron Williams is quite talented.
Byrd is a stud. With a beefed up & healthy Dline, he can spend less time in run support and more time in coverage.
Justin Rogers is a late round find who has some nice upside.
DaNorris Searcy looks to have a future at safety.
That's 4 quality young guys in the secondary.

Kelvin Sheppard looks to be the real deal at ILB.
Barnett is an OLB you win with.
The Dline just became the most dominant in the NFL.... or very close to it.

There's some young talent developing at WR that could emerge, and Johnson is nothing to sneeze at. If they acquire a solid vertical threat opposite Johnson, things will open up for them.

Their Oline was one of the best in the NFL prior to injury. It tapered off when guys had to be shuffled around. Unfortunately for us that unit will only continue to get better.

In order for this to be successful Buffalo's Dline needs to become the imposing, dominant force it now has the potential to become.


Buffalo didn't pay for "Mario". They paid for an elite Dline capable of changing games.

 

Except for the reality that the Bills are actually doing something to improve their team. The Dolphins on the other hand are trading away their only quality receiver and doing absolutely nothing at this time to show their fan base they have any clue how to build a winning organization. I see the Bills being better than the Dolphins next season and the Dolphins once again finishing below 500 and probably last in the AFC East.

 

Whatever they paid for, it was a boatload of money. Enough money to prevent them from re-signing guys already on their roster when the time comes. Mario Williams now needs to play up to his compensation. If he plays like a $30M guy, then he's overpaid, and a net-negative for the team.
