Desai wasn't the DC of Seattle, go look at his Bears' tenure.

According to local news, if the Eagles lose their DC to a head coaching job, they are going to try to persuade Fangio to stay and assume that role with the team.

Miami better get crackin’ if they really want this guy.

That would be the smart and logical move, but smart and logical are not Grier's strength. Fangio is too high profile for Geier, we'll probably go with some obscure position coach candidate who doesnt threaten Grier's ego.

I don't think its really that, why would Fangio come here when he either has the choice of going with Payton wherever he winds up or to the Eagles because he's already a consultant there and it seems like they are going to lose their DC. Desai wouldn't be that bad I guess from what I heard about him, only real downside would be that he'll probably won't be here long because it seems like he's HC material.

Yeah, no thanks. I want someone with experience and a track record of success as a DC, no more promotions and taking chances with unoroven coaches/players please.

Who would that be if they don’t get Fangio? Desai did a great Job when he was with the Bears and he is a Fangio disciple. I think we could do worse then him.

Add Kris Richard to the list of interviewees along with Desai and Fangio (who has been formalized as an interview).

Fangio obviously the white whale of the bunch, but he will have as many options as he wants. Desai and Richard as backup plans is solid so far. Both have DC experience and have been around good units.

Mike Zimmer? Wade Phillips? Ejiro Evero is becoming a hot name for what he’s done with Denver’s defense the last couple of years, although it sounds like he’s on a head coaching track, as is Desai. I don’t see Evero getting the Broncos job, even if they whiff on Payton.

The problem for these younger guys is, there’s a glut of them now and there’s only so many HC jobs available each year. Add to the list the guys who are trying for a second chance, and the backup gets longer.

Not always reliable. But she is making it sound like Fins are going to push really hard for Fangio.

3 good candidates so far IMO.

Was asking hitman, cause he wanted no part of Desai and it sounded like it was Fangio or bust for him.

I don’t know but here’s how I would look at the whole recruitment for our next DC.

Now I COULD be wrong, but it’s fair to say that on PAPER, our defense is LOADED with talent. The injury bug just decimated our available players. With that being the case, I think I would simply ask Fangio, “What do you think you could do with THESE players?”

If he says he could take our defense and make the No Name
Defense, The Steel Curtain and the Monsters of the Midway look like a bunch of pussycats, then what’s it going to take to make you the DC?

Either we HAVE what it takes to attract him or we don’t. I’d like to think we do

Just as I thought, Mcdaniel wanted Fangio last year but apparently Grier stuck his nose in and forced Boyer on him. God I hate Grier, he is a cancer on this organization.

It would have been a very tight timeline for McDaniel to hire Fangio and to assemble their respective offensive and defensive staffs. Potential Fangio hires of Donatell and Desai accepted other positions a few days after McDaniel made it to Miami and before he hired his offensive coaches.

Fangio's Denver staff may not have been loaded with coaching talent; therefore, he might have decided it was wiser to sit out the year, collect Denver's money, and use the time to identify a defensive staff for his next role.

I think it would be wiser to get an old settled head as DC, rather than a young up and comer.

Mainly because a young up and comer is going to get poached as a HC if they show any real ability. The old head is more likely to stay around for a few more years and keep things stable and running smoother.

Yeah, just ignore the report saying Mcdaniel wanted Fangio and had Boyer forced on him. Keep running cover for Grier.

Naw hes actually playing it smart. They Need a franchise QB again and he know they can't "throw" games like they did for Andrew Luck hes putting a bad coach in position to lose games and get #1 pick in a year. Hes no fool hes just playing the system so he doesn't have to get caught.

Reich deserves a second chance and Carolina is good for him. He wont have the pressure of getting immediate results.. and hopefully he doesnt have a GM that continues to overpay for old qbs

"Dolphins vice chairman/limited partner Bruce Beal conducted "these numerous and detailed discussions" and kept Ross and other team executives informed of his conversations with Brady."

    https://www.cbsnews.com/news/nfl-su...oss-for-tampering-with-tom-brady-sean-payton/

"Miami Dolphins owner Stephen Ross has had a change of heart regarding his succession plan for the NFL franchise. The 82-year-old has notified the league of his intentions to change his successor of the Dolphins to his daughter, Jennifer Ross, according to the Sports Business Journal. The process has not yet been completed, but Ross has reportedly made it clear to NFL executives of his desire to pass the team on to his children. Before this development, Dolphins vice chairman Bruce Beal would have had the opportunity to ascend to be the club's owner."

Why would they need to do that? They have the #4 pick in the draft, and two of the three teams that pick ahead of them don’t need QBs. They have a good shot at Stroud or Young barring a trade up from someone, or Will Levis if a trade does happen. No need to tank the season.
You are giving Irsay way too much credit - he is a fool.

Hacket as the OC to the Jets is already just such an awesome hire...FOR US. That offense in NY is destined to be horrible until the end of that franchise.

Oh sure, like Ross wasnt aware what was going on and didnt invite brady onto his yacht?

Are you paid to defend Ross and Grier? Those two are indefensible.

Was it the minority owner who invited Brady onto Ross's yacht and offer Flores money to tank? No, it was Ross.

Didn’t know they had the fourth but this makes me double down in my take. Wouldn’t we love to have 2 top 5 picks in two years? What a way to insta you rebuild your team in one draft.

He is not a smart offensive mind….
But this hire seems to indicate Aaron Rodgers is very likely to end up with the Jets.

    So it’s a mixed bag.
Was really hoping they would stick with Wilson. Even a genius OC couldn’t have polished that turd.

Rodgers will cost them a fortune, both in $$$ and in picks. He is also on the downside of his career; I could be wrong, but I don’t see this as a good move for the Jets.

Rams hire ex-Jets OC LaFleur to be their OC. From Zach Wilson to Matt Stafford - quite a step up. Too bad there’s no OL in place, though.
