Brad Childress to interview for O.C. Position.

Bizarre. It's a radical scheme change, and Childress isn't necessarily a deft playcaller.

I like the sort of, outside the box thinking, but I just can't see it.

Rather take him than some dude that Sparano is buddies with. He was a failure as a head coach, but that offense shined at times with him.

I like that this is a bit outside the comfort zone of the "Sparano" offensive system. The west coast offense in Miami would be a first.

so we would go from a run heavy coryell based system to a run heavy west coast system? guess we're really opening it up

sad as it sounds him and chudzinski are the only two names so far that are even remotely competent. I will throw up if we hire Daboll or Garrett and Palmer is likely a bad choice too

I am not a Brett Favre lover, but didn't Favre say Childress had no clue about offense? Wasn't he a defensive coach in Philly? (*EDIT*: Seems like an offense cordinator in Philly but didn't call play*) Does he have some offensive guru background I am not aware, or am I confusing Childress with someone else? (EDIT: I was just wrong not confused :P)

Childress was the offensive coordinator and Jim Johnson was a the defensive coordinator until he died I believe 2 years ago.

Chilly was QB Coach and OC in Philly for several years. I think Reid called the plays though. I'd take Favre's opinion with a grain of salt.

Well, what would make Childress interesting to me is there will be 2 Qb's on the market who run know his system, McNabb and Jackson but I suspect this is more or less a courtesy interview.

Count me 100% on board with this. Childress is another in the long list of bad head coaches, but outstanding coordinators. This would be a great hire, IMO.

The article is from someone who suspects Favre thinks that. No one ever heard Favre say it. My guess is favre thinks he knows more about football then anyone he's ever played with or for.

Personally, with the talk about Rivera having Chud atop his list in Carolina I wish we'd offer him the job right now.
Looks like we'll drag our feet and lose out on him or even worse they'll see one of these other guys as a better option.

right now chud is at the top of my list with childress second and noone third.

I like the Childress option. I think he's got good experience and runs a good offensive system. Not a leader but a good offensive mind. I like his offense and I like Sparano and Ireland going outside the box of their own family (too much in breeding is never a good thing!).

Also in that article it mentioned Brian Daboll - perhaps as a QB coach.

Cleveland offensive coordinator Brian Daboll was in Miami on Wednesday to interview with the Dolphins for either the position of offensive coordinator or quarterbacks coach, a league source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

Daboll already knows the AFC East well, having been a coach in New England from 2000-2006 and with the New York Jets from 2007-2008.

Daboll was hired as Cleveland's offensive coordinator after the Browns hired former Jets coach Eric Mangini. Daboll is still under contract with Cleveland despite Mangini's firing, but is unlikely to return to the Browns once a new coach is hired.

Not a bad option either. He's worked with the evil genius and Tom Brady. Combining a guy like that with Childress - would be an interesting combo, I believe.

Would much rather go with Childress than Garrett, personally.

There is too much typecasting going on with Brad Childress. Truth is, he is an offensive mind, and offensive minds do not necessarily have "systems" per se.

As an Oklahoma State graduate, I came into this football season with Dana Holgerson as my OC. I thought to myself, yeah he is a genius but we have Kendall Hunter and he does not run the ball in his "system", rather he just throws quick screens to get him into open space.

Well, eleven wins later, Hunter is top ten in the nation in yards and second in the big twelve.

My point is, great offensive minds can change schemes to allow for personell. Childress got run happy because he had Peterson. Once Favre came on board he threw the ball a lot more.

I think he is a great fit for Miami. People forget - Mike Nolan was a failure as a HC as well, and look what he has done for us. All I'm saying is dont assume Childress cannot open the playbook up and throw the ball 50 times a game (if that is what Ross wants).

Right now, him and Garrett are the best two out there, in my opinion.

p.s. I'd be careful to call him a "failure" as a HC, as he took his team to the NFC Championship last year.

He knows more about throwing interceptions than anyone he's ever played with or for. His opinion doesnt mean much to me anyway. Childress is interesting. As an O-CoOrdinator he would make some interesting changes and positive ones imo.

Childress was also the OC in Philly before going to Minn... which was extremely pass heavy.

When you have Adrian Peterson... you run the damn ball... lol

Favre said Childress doesnt know anything about offense... yet Favre had the best season of his career under him.
