Well, Marshall is the kind of player you either love, or you hate, there is little middle ground with BM, he cost us 2 #2 picks and a huge contract, he also drew 2 flags for stupid stuff, he also led the nfl in drops with 12.
But

http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/C/ChamCh00.htm
He also had the first 1,000 yd season since Chris Chambers in 2005, he had the most receptions since..Chambers in 2005, he clearly was our most productive Wr since CC went off for 1k/11 TD's.
But was he worth it now that he has one full season under his belt?
B Marshall, worth it, or not?

Not worth it. Brandon Marshall is a fraud.
-
The drops, the antics, his production, all right about the same as in Denver, in fact if he did not miss 1.5 games he would have hit 100 catches and gained more yardage...but he missed 1 game on average in Denver as well. -
That my friend makes him a fraud.
That said Marshall had 5.2 YAC & 10 TD's last season with the Broncos and 2.8 YAC & 3 TD's for the Dolphins.
He slacked this season. -
I've personally thought any talk of BM in top 3 or 5 as overrating him. But it's tough to say. Do we blame all our offensive woes on Brandon? Can we deal with the headache if our offense picks up? Brandon is a beast but we kind of had (in my opinion) guys that can rule 10-15 yards out. None of them are BM, obviously. He's the best at what he does. But I would have rather us reach for the high YPC guy. As of now,we really don't have that guy our closest was Hartline?
Then the other question, even if we did get that guy, would we have utilized him correctly? When I question the value of the BM trade, I'm not saying it's BM's fault. We could have put Superman in there and probably end up with the same result. Long FG from the 50spadre31 likes this. -
I bring that up simply because BM produced what he normally did, save for TD's a certain #7 is to much of a ***** to throw the ball, through the air, and into the endzone, even Hartline complained about it, I bring that up simply because the Wr cannot throw the ball to themselves there is another part to that equation.
As for "top wr", to me he is maybe a top 15 guy, but even then last yr's previous "Top Wr" Larry Fitzgerald had even less production than Marshall. -
-
The fact that he got 1000 yards receiving with Henning calling plays, and Henne throwing to him is an accomplishment in of itself.

I think Brandon Marshall is the least of our worries. He's a legitimate #1 WR. Improved scheme and QB play will improve his numbers tremendously.

The worst thing he did was throw ONE mini *****-fit, oh and he changed the plays with Thiggy, then again Henning was a ****tard so I cant blame him for that.phinfan84 likes this. -
He's well worth it if we provide him more space to operate in.
-
If last season was considered a down season for him, then yes he's worth it. Because we all know what he can do, but everything on offense just fell apart so he had an obvious decline in numbers (which weren't bad numbers at all).

He was definitely worth it. Best production we have had out of a WR since 2005 (like padre said). Without Marshall, our WR corps would have been: Hartline-Bess-Moore-Wallace-Pruitt (given that we didn't go after a different WR instead of Marshall). If we can pick up a true #2 WR in FA or the draft and get a few more playmakers on offense, Marshall (and this offense) will be putting up some huge numbers. This offense excites me, honestly.
Not to mention, because of the Marshall trade, we were able to trade down in the 1st last year, pick up a higher 2nd round pick, and draft two starters. -

No doubt Marshall can probably be an asshat. Look at that penalty against the Bears when he threw the ball to Cutler. But its too early to tell if it was a bad move all together. In his defense you really can't judge him when you have a QB with the accuracy of a Flint rifile.

Again, with the lack of talent around him and the awful playcalling from Henning, Marshall still had a good season. Well worth the money we are paying him, imo. -
-
No chance he's not worth it... and he ain't a fraud, lol.
I would like to know how he ranked in drops per targets compared to others. Marshall was 4th in the league in targets per game. The other 3 were Wayne, RWhite, and Fitz. 2 of those 3 have much better QBs with better ball placement... and Fitz had a lower catch per target ratio at around only 50% (90 of 174) compared to Marshall (86 of 147).
Fact is, Marshall had a better season at WR than we've had in a long time... while hurt. He's easily one of our best players. He was not the problem with our offense at all. Hell, most the time he was the only one doing anything. The only frustrations arose b/c the guys around him and the scheme he was playing in were garbage. -
-
But Fitz sucks too, right? -
Not arguing the Henning is an moron part. -

Is Marshall worth it, absolutely! He is a wide receiver with great talent. Just about all WR's are divas, what did they expect when they traded for him.
If this is true, I feel the Phins are stupid to promote Dorrell because he couldn't handle Marshall. If the job was too tough for him, get rid of him completely and find someone who can! -

Before Marshall
Bess...76 receptions for 758 yards with 2 tds
Hartline...31 receptions for 506 yards with 4 tds..
107 receptions for 1264 yards...6tds...32 games
With Marshall
Bess...79receptions for 820 yards with 5 tds
Hartline..43 receptions for 615 yards..1 td...12 games
122 receptions for 1435 yards...6 tds....28 games
Sorry but both Bess and Hartlines combined production has been better with Marshall than without

I think my favorite thing about Marshall was how he would drop balls right in his hands. I especially loved when it happened on third down killing drives.
The guy is a lie. He is not a great WR. People buy into the hype and don't want to admit when they have been had.
It's fuggin' hilarious.
I think it will be a better question after one more season but as of right now, no it wasn't really worth it. He has more ability than anybody we've had on the team in years but he was brought in to be a difference maker and he made no difference.
