Wonder if a suspension would take affect that quickly. Would be great if it did. He did some damage to us last year.

Due process will take about a month. We aren't THAT lucky. But it will be a distraction to them.

 

I don't know if it's a forgone conclusion Edwards will be out. Court case and league imposed suspension aren't likely to happen for at least a month or so. Maybe the team suspends him? Doubt it though. They need him.

If he is suspended, somebody better be ready to cover Dustin Keller this week...

 

We don't know if he tested positive a first time, its confidential.

So he may just be fined if this is his first offense.

But the Jets may suspend him.

There's still a good chance he pissed off Sith Lord Goody though. Getting into the media 2x in a year for very unsavory behavior doesn't do you very many favors with this commissioner.

All that said and done though, there really isn't an official policy on this. But he's playing a dangerous game, and after the negative attention the Jets have been getting lately you have to wonder if he's going to be made an example of.

According to the New York Post, Jets coach Rex Ryan is "so infuriated" at Braylon Edwards' DWI arrest that he is "strongly considering" benching the receiver in Week 3.


This isn't Edwards' first run-in with the law, a factor surely weighing on Ryan's mind. The Jets are apparently intent on "making a strong and swift statement" this week. The NFLPA would fight a one-game suspension without pay, but there's nothing to stop the Jets from simply benching Edwards. The team released a statement Tuesday expressing strong disappointment in Edwards' actions.

 

They should bench him, that team has no discipline. You think Sean Payton would let this fly? Don Shula would get pissed when people would make mistakes even during wins in the perfect season. Are they running a football team or a frat house? They have gotten the worst press of the season and it's only a few weeks in. They are the new Bengals/Raiders.

 

If they offer that Ryan's going to be ticketed for DWF....driving while fat.
