Also was Evan Mathis a healthy scratch last night?

Not that he wouldn't be a little bit better than what we have but it appears our evaluation on his ability wasn't too far off.

At this point, i dont want a single coach to remain next year.

I'd agree with this but right now we have the worse starting LG, RG and RT in the entire league. If Pouncey is down then we have the worse starting C in the league as well.

That's a scary situation to put your QB in, especially one that has zero pocket awareness and who can't even see a 320lb human being running right at him.

No, he was listed as questionable.

I think PFF has him ranked very high again this year btw.

That play in the 3rd quarter yesterday when he rolled Tannehill to the right who completed to Parker for (I think) 15 yard gain I was thinking "all right, he finally gets it".

Very next play he calls a stupid fake reverse screen thing that gets killed for a 7 yard loss. I wanted to punch the TV at that point.

Dolphins are apparently a long way away from competing. This is going to mean a whole new philosophy, new offense, new defense, more learning, more roster shake-ups.

Ross isn't about to throw the towel in, is he?

My guess is that this team won't change until the FO changes, and I've a feeling that won't happen unless Ross sells. That won't guarantee anything, of course, but until it happens I've a feeling success isn't coming.

I think this is Campbell's way of trying to win the Job holding everyone accountable.... This is his one chance to be a head coach and he's desperately trying to keep it..

I thought they said during the broadcast he was inactive with an ankle injury or something like that.

Was it Campbell that made this decision or was it Tannebaum or Hickey?

We could've done all this last offseason and hired Jim Harbaugh. But nope. Ross would prefer his college team is in better shape than his pro team. The depths of his cluelessness never ceases to amaze. I regret ever uttering a bad word about Huizenga.

I seriously doubt it was Hickey. In fact I think Hickey is probably somewhere in the Swiss Alps about right now. Because ever since Tannebaum became his boss, Hickey has become the invisible man in the Dolphins front office.

This of interest from a Salguero piece:

"It is probable the Dolphins will continue to run the same offense -- as they ran more or less the same defense when defensive coordinator Kevin Coyle was fired. But the playcalls ... A draw on third-and-25? Those five-yard slants on third-and-eight? The force feeding of the bubble screens? Those will change, one supposes.

It will be interesting if quarterback Ryan Tannehill will be given wider latitude in calling audibles. He did not have that latitude under Lazor's system. He could audible to a play that was served up to him before the snap. But he could not audible to any play he wanted after he scanned the defense in front of him.

Tannehill was not a big fan of the Lazor offense at the end. Just last week he said cryptically, "Right now we are just trying to do the best we can with the offense that we run," showing about as much public displeasure with the whole thing as he dared.

This season has been savage on Dolphins coaches, by the way. They have fired their head coach, their defensive coordinator and their offensive coordinator. All of them were fired after losses to the New York Jets. Pattern here? Owner upset at losing to his hometown team?"

Lol, yeah audibles are the magic solution...keep thinking that. And then Tannehill takes a public jab at his OC, plays the "woe is me" victim card...classy. Kind of a childish comment.

Worst part is that we may even look decent the rest of the way given the easy sched of soft defenses, and the fact that the Pats likely won't have anything to play for. Then we can get all excited just like people did last year after that meaningless Vikings game where the offense looked good against a team that, again, had nothing to play for. More false hope!

At seasons end, EVERYONE should get fired, every single FO person involved in football operations should get **** canned, and bring in someone competent to reboot.

The Miami Dolphins are the laughing stock of the NFL, and that needs to change.

So anything Tannehill does over the last five is meaningless? He plays poorly he sucks, he plays well it's a soft schedule left? So either way over the final 5 games, it doesn't matter?

This is why I wanted lazor gone. He had no feel for the game. Something worked and he immediately went away from it.

Running the ball well? Let's start throwing it. Tannehill is in rhythm? Let's run a toss sweep for a 4 yard loss.

    It was maddening

Maybe I'm wrong, I thought the argument was that it was classless to be celebrating the hit when the dude is lying, clearly hurt, on the ground. I don't think anyone thought they were celebrating that he was injured. I have no problem celebrating the hit, was a good hit. After a couple seconds though, it was obvious he was hurt, they should have stopped. It took them to long to stop. Was nice to see some of them praying, though.

    Again, maybe I'm wrong.

I really hope this is a sign that Ross is throwing in the towel.

But I doubt it. I believe this is a sign that Tannenbaum has completely taken control of this organization and is positioning himself to install his own front office and coaching staff with Tannehill as his QB.

I fear this means we're going to hold onto Tannehill for the remainder of his contract as long as he gets 4K yards and 60+ completion percentage. Or until he completely craps the bed. 5 more years on his contract, right?

    ### On why he fired offensive coordinator Bill Lazor with five games left in the season: "I made a difficult decision. I appreciate everything Bill put into this and all the hard work and dedication he gave to this organization and this offense. I just felt it was time to move in another direction.
"I looked at everything on the plane ride home. I got a couple hours sleep. I wanted to make sure I was making the best decision I could. I feel offensively, we've been anemic for five weeks. We've tried to do a number of different things and it didn't work out. I wouldn't make this move for a spark. I make it because it gives us the best opportunity to win. I want to see production. I want to see points. I don't care how he get that done. We want to get our best playmakers in the position to make plays."
    ### Campbell said the decision to fire Lazor was his, but Campbell said he did speak to Mike Tannenbaum and Bill Lazor.
    ### Campbell: "We have to find a way to become a more physical offense. We need more of a physical presence. How ever we establish that, that's what I'm looking for. I don't think we scare anybody in the AFC East and that bothers me. We need to find a way, even if it is two yards and a cloud of dust."
    ### Was it clash of philosophies, considering Lazor didn't run the ball as much as Campbell wanted?
"We knew it would be hard to run the ball yesterday. So I'm not putting us in a box and saying, this is what we're going to be more of. It's about: How do we move the ball? How do we become efficient and put points on the board? We have to start faster.... I am a more run-oriented person. I want to be more balanced. I like a more balanced approach."
    ### Campbell suggested he wants to use Tannehill more on rollouts.
    ### Why have Zac Taylor become the play-caller, considering he's never done it, instead of Al Saunders?
"Lou [Anarumo] hadn't called a game either and he's done a pretty good job," Campbell said. "I've been around Zac for four years, he's a very bright guy. He's been in quarterback room for four years.
He understands the protections, he understand the run game, he understands the pass game. We're all going to have input. I will have input. We will all come up with the best plan we can for Baltimore."
    ### He said Mike Pouncey is "day to day" has a foot injury. "It's better than I thought it would be. Rishard Matthews took a shot in the ribs; looks less likely he would be up [Sunday]. CJ Mosley and Earl Mitchell both have calf injuries."
    ### On what he wants from his players: "I am looking for the guys, when you put another guy in front of him... if it's freakin' chess, who want to win and will do whatever it takes to win. I still believe we have enough in this locker-room."
    ### He said he's contemplating lineup changes.
    ### More on Pouncey: "We are going to need another center in the building. Jamil Douglas has gotten a ton of practice snaps; you don't know how until the bullets fly. He's going to be better for that."
    ### On DeVante Parker, who got 58 snaps: "He got christened. He was shaky at first. He did some things late in the game, got a little bit better. Did a heck of a job on the touchdown. His techique has to be spot on. This isn't Louisville any more."

It's bang bang they aren't going to celebrate a player being hurt. That's what Tannehill accused them of, and it was wrong. After a play once you start celebrating sometimes they're not even paying attention anymore. Remember Sio Moore and Khalil Mack celebrating a sack 20 yards down the field with time left on the clock and a down still to play (Tuck saved them with a time out). I doubt they were celebrating his injury or even knew of it. Players know how fleeting playing careers are.

This absolutely needed to happen. Kudos to Campbell. Watching this crap the last several games was infuriating. I just wonder why it got to this.

I was dumbfounded as to the metamorphisis of this offense from Campbell's first two games back to the Philbin/Lazor variety -- which is what got Miami into this mess to begin with.

This proves that Campbell was indeed hands-off with his coordinator. Early on he put his stamp on it, but he quickly became a spectator. That was a mistake.

I imagine something got in the way and there has been pushback. That's why you fire someone.

Here's to 2-TE sets, Tannehill under center and runs up the middle.

    I laughed out loud ty.

I know Its wishful thinking and that it probably would not have changed the outcome vs the jets but I wish he would have been fired after the Dallas game. I have never seen such an insanely moronic game plan.... A close game where our run game was actually working and even dominating at times and what does he do? Completely goes away from it, starts throwing every single down, ends the game with a ridiculous pass/run ratio....its like he says "well this is working really well today so lets completely abandon it for the rest of the game"??

Given how he didn't wait til the end of the season, it sounds like this is Campbell's last-ditch effort to establish identity, and hence maybe make a statement for him keeping a job.

Is it typical for an interim HC (7 weeks) to have the power to fire a coordinator?

Let's hope Tannehill senses pressure better when he has less time to see it. If he sucks, he needs to go. I've had enough. If you're a 4th QB and put up a 33 QBR despite weapons equal or superior to better performing QBs, you're the problem.
