Feel bad for the Sonics fans, the guy that bought this team and the league have never been forthright about their intentions for the team. The owner of this team is garbage.
I'm not sure why Oklahoma deserves a franchise, its not exactly a hot market. Why does Seattle deserve to lose this team?
Well I wounder what they will be called and what there colors will be? They cant keep the name or colors I heard on ESPN.
Wanted to add to the original post that Clay Bennet, Sonics owner, has agreed to pay $75 milllion to Seattle. If Seattle gets a franchise by 2013, he will only pay $45 million.
That's pretty bass ackwards. The Sonics should stay and Oklahoma City should get an expansion team, or perhaps the Clippers could move to OKC. If Clay Bennet wants an NBA team in his home town of OKC, he doesn't need to move the Sonics to do it.
They obviously know how to support a professional franchise from what we saw when they "borrowed" the Hornets. The fan base in Seattle is horrendous, no offense. If you're a true fan, then by all means, power to you.
I'm not a Seattle fan at all, Im a Wizards fan. Seattle didn't have any trouble when the fielded good teams. They've made bad decisions and put crappy teams on the field in recent years and thats been their problem. When the Sonics had Payton and Kemp and Co. they had good attendance. This owner bought the team and did nothing to improve, in fact he let it go to crap then he cries about fan attendance? It was all nonsense, they uncovered emails that showed he and his ownership group were planning to leave from day one. I like Oklahoma City is nice but give me a break, I'd much rather own a team in Seattle than that town. They would support a team with ticket sales but no one will want to play in that market. This is a dumb move by the NBA. They are moving the Sonics to force Seattle to build a stadium to get an expansion team, its sad really. I just don't condone the complete dishonestly that the owner of this team and the league have showed here.
Seems odd to want to move to a smaller market. Guess we'll see how Oklahoma City supports a team when having one isnt new and fresh and they have to go out and support a dog.
there goes the 1-5 rivarly....this may make a little change in the divisions as well maybe sactown moving to the northwest
Oh come on alen, Ms Bean is just waiting to meet you. Careful, her bf is waiting in the car, so dont do anything she doesnt want you to do. And be sure to tip her nicely.
I'm not sure if you want to hear this or not but the city of Seattle is discussing a plan with the NBA to build a new Key Arena. The sum is worth to be approximately $300 million. Hey man, I'm not going to complain with either. Matter of fact, give me ten of each.
i been drunk twice, i don't like it at all....soooooooooo i guess i am nuts compared to basically everyone else edit: sometimes when im eating candy i take shots outta my parents gross liquor and rum but it doesnt do **** i dont even know why i do it lol
Interesting. Nah, your not nuts. You are like the second person I have seen that from. I prefer beer to candy lol.
If the franchise can't retain the Sonics name, logo, or records... then who cares? Those achievements stay in Seattle and a franchise will either be moved or created for the city. I will say it's stupid for the owner to move the team just because he was born in OKC. The NBA should work out a deal where the Sonics and Clippers switch management and the Clippers move to OKC with the name and achievements. Problem solved.
Lol, you and the Clippers. What I think its even more stupid is that they are planning on building a new arena for about $300 million and they don't even have a team. They probably won't get a team for another 5+ years.
I can't grasp why they're in Los Angeles. I also can't grasp why someone would name a basketball franchise as if it were a barber shop.
Absolutely. Failing that, either the Clips or the Grizzlies should simply be sold to a Seattle-area ownership group and re-christened Sonics v.2.0.
LOL. I don't know, I rather them move the Grizzlies like Phun said. At least the Clippers are in LA. What is there in Memphis other than arenas/stadiums falling apart?
