Its a great point. He should at least be considered a finalist for it.

 

I think Brent Grimes would laugh at 3/25 or 4/30.

I'd be willing to give him 3/36. He's going to want an AAV of at least 11-12m per year.

I want him back. I want hin to be Comeback Player of the Year too. He deserves it. He's been very good.

 

This is the type player you do whatever to resign. He loves playing the game and gives it his all when on the field. Pay the man please.

 

He doesn't have the leverage. He can be franchise tagged and for a guy who will be 31 when this season starts and 32 next offseason this is his last chance to get a multi year deal. I can fully see this being a team friendly deal. Especially since the corner market last year was so weak. I'm thinking something in line of Sean Smith's deal with K.C.

 

I agree he will be looking for at least 11 million a year. While I would love to see him return next year, I just don't think the Dolphins will be willing to pay him those type of dollars,if Ireland is still with the Dolphins after this season, I believe he will let Grimes walk and try to convince the coaching staff that James Taylor and Will Davis should be ready to start in 2014. Ireland always seems to think that the players he drafted are better players than they turn out to be.

I hope I am wrong about Grimes not being a Dolphin in 2014, but I just don't have any confidence that Ireland will do what it takes to sign Grimes to a long term contract.

 

You guys are severely over thinking that contract. No chance he gets 11 mil a year. Last year Sean Smith, a 26 year old, got a 3 year 18 mil. 2 years ago Brandon Carr, a 26 year old, got a 5 year 50 mil.

I could see Miami going all in on like a 2 year 18 mil deal. MAYBE 3 years 25.

 

For the record. I'd much rather see a 3 year deal at about 21 mil.

 

I see him getting a 3 year deal here and cheaper than 11 million a year. I have no problem seeing him walk if it's 100% about the most money, this team needs to spread the money more evenly to maintain multiple high end players to reach the point of a winning team to contend in Super Bowls.

Grimes is a lot of player in a small package and I hope he is here a few more seasons.

Really great point. I think he's an ideal franchise candidate. Although, after the franchise debacle in ATL, when he injured himself, I think he'll be much more willing to settle for any multi-year deal...like you said.
