Isn't Bess the perfect slot receiver? I get the feeling Moore is a bigger threat because of his speed.
I like the kid. I thought he played lights out last year. I know there has been some negative criticism towards him of late, but personally I don't see it. We're one game into the regular season. Admittedly he didn't have a great game last week, but it was one game. And a victory at that. I think the kid is a baller. And, I think the FO agrees. Otherwise, they wouldn't have traded away Cam. JMHO.
Bess is an excellent slot WR. But we need a flanker who can beat man coverage consistently, otherwise people will double BMarsh all day and put 8 in the box to stop our running game. If Hartline can't do it, then we'll have to find someone else. Ideally some one who can stretch the field...
Hartline needs to get his head out of his *** and start catching the ball. He's been dropping everything that comes to him since the 1st preseason game.
Insead of learning to deal with critics, he should learn to catch consistantly. Then there would be no critics
I think it is not we are "scared" to get Bess in there in 3 wide sets. Rather it is we do alot of max protect blocking schemes and that keeps the 3rd wideout off the field. You will probably see more of that this week with the Vikes front 7.
There will always be criticism... no matter if the Phins win or lose. All Hartline has to do is have one good game, or make one big play, and the criticism directed at him will get shifted to whichever other player makes a mistake.
Sophomore slump? WAAAY too early to be judging this kid. Bills have a very good secondary and the wind conditions mad things tough. Plus it wasn't Hartline's fault there was a penalty on the pass he did catch. Unbelievable how short a leash players get on this forum, then others who don't deserve it get three miles leashes. Guess its just the nature of people. Guess its a very good thing Hartline doesn't pay attention to it, he needs his focus where it is.
I agree with EDSTA74. He can ignore the critics if he wants, but if he will go back to catching the ball, he can shutem up. Then he wont have to ignore it. I don't see how some DON'T see the problem. He was terrible in preseason and it continued last week. Catch the ball or sit down and get some one that will. I would advise turning it around quickly though before its to late and people have their minds made up to the point that they CAN'T change their mind.......or won't.
Have you guys noticed that the 2nd year under Dorrell all WRs regress? Bess had a better year only because he played the full year, but he also developed a nasty drop and fumble problem last year.
I know he only had three catches today. But, one was good for a TD, so that has to be good for a little redemption...no?
