Overview
Hartline stepped up as a solid No. 2 receiver to Brian Robiskie with 52 catches for 694 yards and six scores in 2007. But the move to QB Terrelle Pryor and a different offensive mindset early in 2008 decreased Hartline's role. While he was still a big-play threat who averaged 22.4 yards per receptions, Hartline finished with just 21 catches.
Considering Ohio State's focus on Pryor's running ability, that Hartline considered leaving the Buckeyes wasn't a surprise. It was, however, a surprise that he didn't consider transferring rather than relinquishing his collegiate eligibility in the hopes of being a late-round pick. Had an arm span of 32 inches and a hand span of 10 inches at the combine.
Analysis
Positives: Good height and an athletic frame. Good initial quickness off the snap. Better football player than overall athlete. Does a lot of the little things well. Reliable route-runner. Lacks elite burst out of his snaps, but runs them with precision. Good body lean and utilizes head fakes and varying speeds to help generate separation. Good hands. Tough. Will take a big hit and hang on to the ball. Good downfield blocker. Stalks defenders at the second level and can supply a big hit. Experienced special teams player.
Negatives: Lacks the eye-popping athleticism to offer much upside. Doesn't have the straight-line speed to challenge over the top. Lacks burst out of his breaks. Generally reliable hands, but has some ugly drops when he's trying to make a move on the defender before securing the pass
High School
Began his junior year as a quarterback, but switched to receiver after four games and caught 41 passes for 411 yards (his brother, Michael, replaced him at quarterback) ... also returned punts and kickoffs as a junior ...injured his knee in the season opener his senior year and missed the remainder of the season ... did play in the Big 33 game ... also ran track for three years and won state titles in both the 110-meter and the 300-meter hurdles as a senior.

I am assuming the same thing. I know he has a huge cap casuality though... I think it is like 2 million or something like that. If we cut him after a certain day that cap pentalty will go agaist next years salary.

I like the player. Hartline is not just quick, but exceptionally quick for his size. I see him as a slot guy who could provide some interesting mismatches.
I'm just not terribly excited about drafting another WR at that position. We still have more picks, so I'll wait and see our whole draft before I get bent outta shape about this pick.
However, I want to see an inside LB and a NT. -

You are negative and you are entitled to it.
Everyone has homerism in them at some point. My point is the draft. There are 32 people in a position to pull strings on NFL talent and I'm not one of them. I'm a dolphins fan and my team just won the AFCE Division Title after going 1-15 with this same regime. a parcells draft sometimes is lack luster but is always solid. every draft choice has a reason, the home work has been done.

The more i look into turner the more i understand that pick. This one however, i do not get at all. While i like hartline and think he can develop into an average WR in the NFL, we have the recievers we need now. Id hate to see bess, camarillo or ginn gone.

Ohio state alumni here and first like to say congrats to B. Hartline! But what a horrible pick for the dolphins. This guy had like 21 catches last year, yes it was contributed by a freshman qb but this guy is free agent at best. Is this year so thin on wrs that hartline got drafted? Good luck on this one guys. Oh yah, first post not hating it's just my unbias opinion.

There is no way this guy will ever be a legitimate NFL WR. Watch this kid run routes... He looks like he is in the backyard playing with friends. It's awful... He's going to be destroyed in the NFL.

it shows how bad this pick is, when WR is a position of need(i guess they think it is?), and our 4th round pick comes in as our 6th or 7th best WR....
Victor Butler, Sammie Lee Hill, Kyle Moore, Lawrence Sidbury, Terrance Taylor, and T.J. Lang are all players picked after Hartline, that were a position of need. any one of those players would of been great. we laid a egg in the 4th and im willing to bet Hartline doesnt even make this team this year.gunn34 and Clark Kent like this. -
It's a blasted pick. This kind of fodder can be found anywhere. If you're going to select a crappy player at least select a ILB like Beckwith who has a shot in hell of becoming a starter for you in the future. **** at the least reward Beckwith for the great play he showed in college.

Honestly it feels like TUNA is leaving us and going to make sure we waste a draft :) not really and I hate the moves made so far. If Wide reciever was such an important position that we drafted and wasted (IMHO) 2 picks on when we could have just signed Bolden (My mancrush) and knew FOR A FACT that we had the MAN, now we have 7 average at best wideouts Camerillo is the best of them and hes coming off an injury so who knows what happens there.
Looks to me like Jason Taylor is back which I don't want unless Wake is just that damn good already.
Im sorry but I can not forgive this team for not getting us a real stud wideout early on when they were available. -

We'll probably do what we did with Josh McKown. Try em out, find the guys we want to keep and then trade the rest for whatever we can get for them. Right now you are looking at a couple of players who will be traded for next year's 6th and 7th round picks.

I actually think both Hartline and Turner complement Ginn and Bess. Our WR's from last year were fleet footed and played with finesse. Hartline is bigger with some nice speed and Turner is a massive target that excels over the middle and in the redzone.

i dont seem to recall, DE was a position of need last year, we had no depth. This year we needed CBs and we got two good ones. But we also got a player who didnt develop into a solid position. and everyone else was reaches. ehhhh
