This is my favorite tourney of the year. I love watching the players brave the elements. With Tiger out, it's wide open. Who do you like this yr? I like Appleby, Scott, and Furyk. How bout Els' 80? LMAO!

Surely there's a few golfers on here who actually enjoy watching the majors?

I caught a bit of it. Surprising to see Norman in the mix.

Greg Norman, my namesake, is the reason why I took up golf 13 years ago. I am going for him.

It is also great to see David Duval back in the mix as well.

Yeah, with Duval and Norman in the mix it should be interesting. I'd love to see either one of them pull it off.

^ yeah, would love to play over in England/Scotland one day and hit up at least one of The Open layouts.

Reminds me of the old joke:

An american golfer goes to England/Scotland, after a long plane fight, he doesnt waste any time, plans to play a round at St. Andrews, he arrives, gets a caddy assigned to his bag, and heads over to the 1st tee.

The caddy gives him some advice in his thick native accent, the American steps up and tops one off the tee and watches as it rolls only a few feet in front of him.

He steps back, and says to the caddy, ya know, I was late, didnt have chance to warm up enough, I am just gonna re-tee and hit another. Ya know, take a mulligan. So what do you call that over here?

The old caddy says, "Sir, we call that cheatin!"

KJ Choi is a machine. Incredibly consistent and never seems fazed. I'm pulling for Norman it's great to see him playing so well. It looks like it's going to be a rough scoring day though, winds are nuts.

Today is gonna be pretty rough out there. Any score close to par will be great. This tourney is gonna end with the winner shooting a pretty high score, I wonder what the record is?

I know some 300+ strokes have one this in the early years, but not 100% sure on the format and/or relation to par.

In modern era, I believe Paul Lawrie's playoff win after the epic 72nd-hole collapse of Jean Van de Velde in 1999 at Carnoustie was +6 (290)

I think Norman's gonna do it tomorrow. What a great story that would be.

    9 holes to go, and Norman has a 1 stroke lead.....@ +6.

What a shame, not terribly surprising though. Harrington has officially become elite (as in the best golfers not named Tiger Woods).

Defending his title, especially with the wrist issue earlier in the week, etc. is very impressive.

However, Tiger is so far out in front of any of the next group of guys. I quess Paddy is just as capable of claiming #2 as anyone with back to back majors for sure.

I'm probably getting ahead of myself, but he is emerging quickly and has some strong finishes in recent majors.

Looking at the list behind Tiger, and they're all good, but no one truly stands out at this point. If Phil can ever commit to course management, then the story would change, however...

The one guy that really sticks out to me is Justin Rose. He has really come on strong. It's amazing that it's only been 10 years since he nearly shocked the world. Probably too much too soon for him, but the potential has always been there. Unlike Sergio, his game seems to be strong from top to bottom. Nothing eye popping, just very solid overall. The only "weak" link is driving distance, but that's irrelevant when you hit so many fairways.

Regardless, it is awesome to see a half-retired Norman back in contention in a major championship. Kinda ironic when you consider that Tiger's so called "rivals" were far out of contention before the weekend even started.

Mickleson will never win a British Open - he doesn't have the game for it. He can't play links golf.

Rosie's a good player; he's in a group of very good young English players along with the likes of David Howell who shot a 67 today; Paul Casey, Luke Donald, etc., who all have games to win a Major.

i was surprised to see norman in it for so long. too bad he had a rough day today. Nice to see someone other than tiger winning although i wish he woulda been there. I cant even imagine golfing in those conditions as well as they were. crazy.

congrats to harrington though... at least theres one winner in that family.

Norman is NOT clutch on Sundays, but he did move up in the marriage department, and it is nice seeing a man in his 50's giving it a run for a major like that. I will be seeing him in two weeks for the US Senior Open here in the Springs.

No doubt. Casey's the one that always caught my attention with regards to potential.

Just needs to take that final step. His game is tight.
