Though Broncos cornerback Perrish Cox was arrested Thursday for sexual assault, the alleged incident occurred on October 28.
It was the same day the Broncos left for London to play the 49ers.
As the Denver Post points out, Cox was left behind because he had suffered a concussion four days earlier.
And that has resulted in an unfortunate headline in the Post pointing to the four-day gap between concussion and alleged assault, as if Cox’s legal team already plans to advance a temporary insanity defense based on an acute case of bumpus-on-the-nogginus.
The Post separately reported that Cox was expected to be released from custody on Friday via $15,000 bond.
All records relating to the case have been sealed.
