There is plenty on the minds of football playing brothers John and Peria Jerry, the least of which is squaring off against each other tomorrow night at Sun Life Stadium when John’s Miami Dolphins host Peria’s Atlanta Falcons.
Older brother Peria, 26, is trying to rebound from a torn ACL in his left knee suffered early during his rookie season last year, and this will be the defensive tackle’s first live game action in 10 months. Meanwhile, 24-year-old John is poised to crack the starting lineup as a rookie this year with the Miami Dolphins at left guard on the offensive line. Both have come a long way from their days as teammates at Ole Miss.
John Jerry has been lining up with the first team for the better part of the last two weeks, and should his brother start for Atlanta or at least get some snaps with the first team defense, there will be quite an interesting family reunion.
“We always went against each other (at Ole Miss). We always went one-on-one, so it’s nothing new,” said John, who at 6-foot-5 and 328 pounds is three inches taller and 34 pounds heavier. “It’s just going to be a ballgame. He doesn’t have on the same color I have on and I don’t have on the same color he has on so it’s going to be a war. I’m pretty sure he looks at it the same way.”
