Per Darlington, everybody's favorite badass Bryan Cox interviewed with Sparano on Tuesday.
He was with Mangini since 2006 in NY and Cleveland as a defensive line coach. But I think he could be a LB's coach here, as we've previously had two. Last season Sheridan did it alone.

EDIT: to that point, Darlington added this via Twitter:

Darlington mentions his son is a stud DE entering his senior year of high school in Ohio. Might not want to move him.
But there are few places with HS football like South Florida. He could play on a national power. -
Well that could be an interesting hire no doubt. I enjoyed watching that guy play.
-
Loved Brian Cox and the attitude he brought to the game. I was in Buffalo when he flipped off all of Rich Stadium. I'd love to see him back with the Dolphins in any capacity. Hope they get it done. It would be the first good news I've heard this offseason.
-
I really dont know too much about the Miami High school teams but they usually have a few top teams and of course My high school Dwyer pretty beastly... represent. -
This would be cool.
-
Hmm, I thought he had worked on the Patriots staff as well?
Wonder what this new position would be? To me, I think every Defense should have a passrush Coach who just watches technique and breaks down strengths and weaknesses of blockers his guys are likely to face.
For example, if a running back, do they cut block 90% of the time? -
Couldn't stand Cox at the end there. In those days I was still taking some of the players fishing, and apparently, they didn't like him much either.
-
Well, if he is hired you'd have to think it is as a trial run to become the Lb coach in 2012 as Nolan's contract is up and Bill Sheridan is Nolan's natural replacement which means we will need a linebacker coach.
Would love to lock up Mike Nolan on another 2 yr deal but suspect he has a bad taste in his mouth over the way things went down in San Francisco and he'd like a shot at another Head Coaching gig. -

Are people forgetting he became a Jet too ? Didn't he ? I don't want their trash.......

Perhaps he was an intern or a staff assistant. But that was the first thing I thought of as well. -

Okay buddy boy, tell me why I should be so gung-ho fired up to bleed the Orange, Aqua and White today ?
Cox is in the same catagory as Jason Taylor, a TRAITOR. He willingly put on a Jets uniform. That means he is dead to me. -
Dez Bryant was quite simply not motivated enough to play for the Dolphins, if one bothers to research how his season went in Dallas, Bryant quite simply could not, or would not, learn either the playbook, or the route tree, in that sense he is Roy Williams Jr.

great players, more than not, make notoriously bad coaches. be careful what you wish for...
many questions still linger on Brian Cox i.e. disposition, poise, temperament, communication skills
however, the way Sparano has filled the other coaching positions, any thing is possiblePandarilla likes this. -

Cox was an above average player who played every down with great pride. I wish everyone on our roster had his heart but lets not forget his other antics like flipping off the entire the stadium in Buffalo when he came through the tunnel. Shula, a strict disciplinarian, having to defend Cox's many repeated and classless actions cost Shula the leagues respect and ultimately his job as people thought that he'd lost control of the team.
Regardless of how well Cox played here in Miami - when I look at him all I remember is how his bull$hit lead to the disrespect and ultimate replacement of the greatest coach in history. Now after he gave Shula a black eye he wants to return to "help"? No freakin way. Out of mere respect for Shula I wouldn't hire him. :pity:
Maybe Barfallo will hire him. That seems to be the gathering place of all failed and former Dolphins; Gailey, Wanney, and one of our LB's who will remain nameless. If I ran this team there would be no way that I would hire Cox in Miami, ever. -

Theres little doubt in my mind, Cox has matured from his youthful antics, but I think in reality, his behavior wasn't relective as much of the team, as it was his own nature as a loose canon.
His frustrations over his own play, his anger at our own defensive inability to make a stand, is what seemed to fuel him to lash out at the opposition, and I think fans of both teams generally realized as much. His episodes as I recall, commonly flared when the defense got stymied, and less when they were dominant.
I wasn't neccesarily proud of what he did, because it often DID appear childish, but watching him blow off steam, seemed to offset my own frustrations, and when I look back on it, and on him, I recall an angry enraged fireplug, who's bitterness seemed to stem from the mental anguish of knowing what to do, far better than his abilities often allowed him to do it.MrClean likes this. -
As for Dez Bryant, not only did he sleep in meetings, not learn the playbook etc, there was the whole carrying pads deal that he overreacted to in trying to make up for it, 100k for his teammates' dinners?
Come on man, overcompensate much? -
ILB Martez Wilson might be a nice fit for Cox since the kid shows the ability to get to the QB from the middle and make plays..... and he has the talent & potential to be moved around IMO. He could be a dark horse pick if we trade back.
-
Did you actually see any Cowboys games?
I watched them every week...... now I can't say that I know what happened in the meetings or speak of anything other than what I saw on the field but what happened on the field was he became the Cowboys number one threat on offense before mid season. He was straight up ballin out there and to say any differently reeks of trying to fix your failed argument against him.
You anti Dez guys need to just leave it alone..... the guy can flat out play. -
As for former Dolphins later playing for the Jets being traitors, you do realize the NFL is a business and the players have a right to earn a paycheck if another team wants to sign them? As for that making them "dead" to you, that sounds like the thing an overly emotional adolescent would say.
