http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/draft2008/news/story?id=3405648 Question now is whether they stick with Hinrich and draft Beasley, who could fit in well at PF, or draft Rose, who's more athletic than Hinrich, instead. Chad Ford's Mock: http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/draft2008/columns/story?columnist=ford_chad&page=MockDraft-080520 Interesting to see two UCLA products predicted to be drafted in the top 10, more than any other school.
Pray that Mayo or Bayless somehow takes a fall. I think Lopez will figure into the top 5, and maybe some team will get hot for Randolph or Love.
New Jersey might get sweaty about the possibility of Love going to the Bobcats. They know Larry Brown has a sweet spot for Bruins as well as polished big-men and might trade up to get him.
As a greedy and frustrated Knicks fan that was hoping they could jump start the rebuilding process, I was hoping for Rose or Beasley. Who cares about the name at this point? Isiah, Dolan and Marbury have ruined this franchise for many years to come. That is more shameful than the name.
so what do u guys think about the sonics pick? unfortunately I don't know much about college b ball....
The NBA Draft is the worst form of robbery in that the vast majority of highly drafted players either have mediocre careers, or just bust out altogether. Every now and then there is a special draft, this seasons does not promise to be one of those, no really good big men, no eye popping scorers who just overmatch their opposition. Heck, the last "great" draft was 2004, and even then outside of Wade, LeBron, and Anthony, it would take effort to find the guys who led their teams to championships....and even then it was only Wade among the group who actually did that in the first place.
I can't believe the Bulls won it with 1.6 Odds. Minny got the **** end of the stick yet again. Last year they had the same odds as Portland but it was Portland that won it and they got stuck at 7. This year no Rose or Beasley for them.
Yeah Chris Bosh was taken 4th in that draft as well. As stated earlier I hate the lottery. The NBA draft is slightly more exciting to me than the MLB or NHL drafts, and thats only because I know who these guys are. At least there are rookie contracts in the NBA that are capped. Teams arent stuck paying guaranteed money out the *** for a guy who sucks like the NFL.
Big fan of Eric Gordon's game. Do you think they take a PG? I heard that Livingston is coming along well with his rehab, don't know if he will ever be the same though. That was a pretty freak injury.
The lottery is basically a get lucky or your screwed thing it seems. They should just base it off of the most poor records like in the NFL.
Seems almost everyone's consensus pick for the Sonics is Bayless from Arizona. He's a good scorer but just a poor passer. More like a lesser version of Iverson with less passing and playmaking ability. I actually agree with Chad Ford's pick of Russell Westbrook. A local kid with much better defense and slashing ability, things the Clips really lack. Not to mention Youtube quality highlights that could put the Clippers back in the mainstream minds (and ensure the most watched Clippers highlight isn't Shaun Livingston breaking his knee). The Clippers would be wise to not put all their eggs in one basket especially one like Livingston. They do need help at PG/SG/SF if Maggette doesn't return. They could go with Mayo if he drops but that's unlikely.
As a Bulls and Heat fan, I am ecstatic! However, I still think having a Lottery for the draft is total crap. Sorry the worst teams deserve the top picks. That being said, Look for the Bulls to take Rose. Quick Point Guards is the new trend in the NBA with CP and Deron williams Leading the way.... Besides Gordon is a RFA and I think there is a sign and trade coming. Throw in Hinrich, Larry Hughes or even Gooden and you can get a pretty solid post player in return.
Speaking of Rose and the Bulls. Heres some chatter from originally a Dolphins article I came across today in school. http://www.miamiherald.com/1262/story/540757.html
THAT could be fun... However, I am not that big of a fan of Hinrich. Probably part of the reason I am excited they can draft Rose. So even though the Bulls could trade him, I don't want him on the Heat. He just seems to disappear in too many games. Especially when some consider him the "captain". He plays good defense, but his offense is sporadic and too prone to turnovers IMO.
