He hasn't shown well at all this year, thought he would outlast Thomas, but both apparently being gone on the same day is pretty big.
Said this in the DT thread, but really feels like the purge has begun, and this team is looking to challenge the Cleveland Browns for #1. Not because we're cutting these two, but the record, decisions with players starting/not starting, IR, coaching decisions. Looks like we're just entering purge and move on mode. Bring on the rebuild. -

This is just the cleansing that was necessary after 10 years of horrible drafting, trades, free agent signings and overall malfeasance of this organization. This team is a mess and no longer can Ross, general manager or coaches ignore how bad this team is. The reality is we are not even close.
Let the purging continue and let's move forward to bigger and better things. -
For the first time I reallt do believe in our staff. I've seen so many players in position to make plays flat out whiff due to talent. Its encouraging to see Thomas finally cut...Turner maybe could have used more time but if the staff didn't see potential in him its good to move on.

I give'em "some" credit ...... but let's be real - it was a delayed reactionary move.dolphin25 and Pandarilla like this. -

Fact of the matter is, quality coaches and front offices are ahead of the curve not sitting around waiting for disaster to strike before making a decision like this one.dolphin25 likes this. -
I have to believe it was my "Stepbrothers" nickname for Thomas and Turner that sealed the deal, lol. And, Douglas fell out, too.
There's no shame in being the worst of the best in the NFL. I wish them all well in their future endeavors...like a matador or turnstile attendant or fire exit evacuation dude.cbrad likes this. -

Whether that is some sort of thought process residue from the previous regime is unanswerable.MikeHoncho likes this. -

Tunsil fell to them in the draft and suddenly their noodles shut off. -
To be fair, an even half-comptetent GM would have sought to replace these two bums a long, long time ago.

To say this is just Adam Gase, and rah rah coach speak though is ridiculous on your part. He's doing EXACTLY what he said he do. Coach speak is them saying nothing at all of substance, or rah rah crap to make a player feel good. This is a coach who said, this is what im giving you all, a fresh start, a chance to learn to play our way. That hasnt happened with some players. The warning was issued they'd make changes and find guys who will, and they've done just that. Its a coach changing the way things have been done around here, giving guys the benefit of the doubt, and if it's not good enough, theyre gone. Should they have been gone long ago? Of course, but they were here because there was nobody else the team was willing, or able to acquire due to cost, they got their chance, and they blew it, now they're gone. Good teams run that way. It takes time though, this is the start of that process.cdz12250 likes this. -
But please continue with your head up that stank *** of yours and keep preaching the patience. You're gonna get it right one of these years with throwing blind darts ...... it may be 5, 10, 15 .... who knows. :up:Young Z likes this. -

I pray for Joe if this dude ever enters the game for the Ravens.

You're complaining about the coach wanting to evaluate the players himself in a new position. You're complaining that he said he was going to do that. He did that. Came to the conclusion that some aren't good enough, and they're gone. So, everything he's said he'd do so far, he's done. You want to write that off as insignificant and "coach speak" just so you can be negative and complain about something. That's ridiculous. He's doing the job he was hired to do, just as he said he would do it. Now you're going to bring up and complain more about Ross. Great. Everyone knows that's a problem. Not sure what he has to do with a conversation about Billy Turner, and Adam Gases thoughts about evaluating this team and it's players under his system and watch. Ok though, ramble on dude...
Maybe it's you who needs to remove your head... ahh, nevermind. I'm not going to stoop to your level. -
Stephen Ross hired Gase. He was his favorite coaching candidate. What do you know about Mr. Ross since he's been an owner? He couldn't hit the broad side of a barn with his football choices. Until that changes, a degree is skepticism is still natural.
What time are we hitting the links tomorrow? :tongue2: -

We move them around because (1) when they show they suck at one spot, we hope that by magic they will be good at another; or (2) we need someone at a position that the player has never played in college, and we move them there, making the transition to the NFL doubly difficult; or (3) someone gets injured and we have no backup at the position.
Genius, no?

Well, we know Albert can't be depended on from day to day, let alone week to week, or to stay healthy over a 2 week period. But what were the odds that a 22 y/o professional athlete who depends on balance, speed, hand/eye coordination, lateral movement, and footwork couldn't step out of a damned shower without busting his a** and hurting his ankle?
Agree with what you're saying though but both guys had 3 years to lock down a position and failed. Douglas was another matter. Poor evaluation and he was out of shape this summer and over matched both last season and thru camp. -
