    I just thought I would share this with the family here. if you are having problems with California Unemployment existing claims, here is the best directions I have found out. You have to call 1-800-300-5616, and when you here Welcome, and Welcome only punch in 1-2-4-3 right away, and hopefully you can get through.

    This has been the biggest pain in the butt. I did in an extension online on 1/23/09 . I get a letter dated 1/30/09 it regards to some of my answers I sent in. Then it says I should hear something in 10 days, well we are at the two week mark, and no response. I sent email complaint on Wednesday, still heard nothing. I will be on the phone all day trying to get through. Hopefully others will have better luck then I.:wink2:

    I tried to go into an office today, and it was for training only, and couldn't help me at all. They did give me the info above.

    One word of advice, do not file for an extension if you have any benefits left at all, because they will kick it back. Even if you only have one week left in benefits. You can only file for an extension only when you have no money from the first or prior filing.:up:

    If you send them an email complaint through there contact us link, it will take a week before you get an answer.:wink2: I have found this out the hard way. I am 3 weeks behind in getting my paper work, so hopefully they get caught up.

    How do the benefits system work there. .?

    In the UK you are entitled to benefits from day 1 of unemployment (as long as it was not your doing, such as quitting) until you find a job.
    You get your housing and local government taxes paid for you or your morgatge interest (if you own your home) and free prescriptions and dental (other med care is free here anyway) and you get the following per week but paid fortnightly. .

    Income-based Jobseeker's Allowance

    Personal allowances - single people Rate

    * Person aged 16-17: £47.95
    * Person aged 18-24: £47.95
    * Person aged 25 or over: £60.50

    Personal allowances - couple Rate

    * Both aged 16-17: £47.95
    * Both aged 16/17, one disabled: £47.95
    * Both aged 16/17, with responsibility for a child: £72.35
    * One aged 16/17, one aged 18-24: £47.95
    * One aged 16/17, one aged over 25: £60.50
    * Both aged 18 or over: £94.95

    Lone parents Rate

    * Aged 16-17: £47.95
    * or depending on their circumstances: £47.95
    * Aged 18 or over: £60.50

    Dependent children Rate

    * Payable from birth up to the day before their 20th birthday: £52.59

    Most families in receipt of Income Based Jobseeker’s Allowance receive support for their children through Child Tax Credit.

    This is all new to me, as before this I never had collected before. They base it on your pay that you made at your job prior to going on unemployment. I am at the max which is 450.00 a week, before I have them take 45.00 out for the federal taxes. I got my original benefits from July 08 to January 09. My extension will be from January to May of 09 maybe June. Not sure about after that. I had hoped to have a job already.:wink2:
