I remember him going down, people saying it's it for him, probably never see him play in a Phins uniform again, fast forward, we have two more seasons with him baring something ****ty happening. I'm excited! He's my favorite Dolphin, next to JT Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
I think that's the best move a Miami front office has made in a depressingly long time. Now finish the flipping job and go get Wake and John Denney ( Hang on brah! It's coming!) a CHAMPIONSHIP!!! 91 and 92 in SB 52! Believe it and it will happen.
Love seeing guys like Wake get rewarded for loyalty, hard work and production. He's stuck with this team through some pretty crappy seasons and will be retiring a Dolphin. Hopefully we can send him off a winner!
I guess I'm the dissenting voice. He had 7 million left for 2017 year. I would have rather seen his play out his last year and then decide. New England cuts guys or trades them just after they peak. I love Wake but it's a business and he's getting old
Anyone here think Wake has any shot to make it to the HOF? If not, what would he have to do in the next two seasons to be legitimately considered?
He deserves it after last season. He's given us fans some rare bright spots over these past several seasons of mediocrity. While he's been part of a mediocre team, there is nothing mediocre about Cam Wake. Glad I'll get to see him finish his career as a Miami Dolphin.
NE has the hardware to back up their ploys (even though they're misbegotten). We don't. So to get players to buy in, we have to offer something else till we have the trophies.....that something can be financial reward and loyalty for being great. You're not just rewarding Wake, you're showing the young guys (and potential free agents) we'll do right by you. That can carry weight. Let's be honest, with the injuries we had last year, the one thing that kept this team going was a familial bond.
He came off a career threatening injury to have 11.5 sacks and continue to be held more than any other DE in History! And he is a leader off the field and in the locker room. He would have gotten the same or more from a team needing a pass rusher to take the next step. Green Bay, Atlanta, Indy to name a few.
On that same note, I hope this club has a job waiting for him when he retires, whether it be as a trainer, or nutritionist. He really does a good job of taking care of his body in the offseason, and I remember reading somewhere that other players have taken notice and either work out with him or go to him for advice on diet, routines, etc when they are not being monitored or managed by their respective clubs in the offseason. Mabe it was just other Dolphins players, I don't remember.
Message Ckparrothead to get him to display his post from the main club thread. IMO, Wake is the best pass rusher that has played for the Dolphins. Watching a tight end or running back try to block him is comical. If he got half of the holding calls against him that are routinely not called offenses could barely move the ball. His production is easily worth double what the Dolphins are paying him. His lack of playoff play is going to hurt his chance for the HOF. hopefully Gase brings him a superbowl.
I'd say 24+ sacks and a Super Bowl ring (with a near Von Miller defensive impact in the Super Bowl) would get him in.
