http://www.profootballtalk.com/rumormill.htm Im hoping we win Sunday, but regardless win or lose Sunday I still think Cam gets fired.
The only good I can think of is that the players may not have any faith and/or respect for Cameron. At this point, could you blame them? Nothing has worked and veteran leaders are vocally voicing their displeasure. Heck, JT even evaded a question that point blank asked him what his thoughts on Cameron are. Perhaps firing him and putting someone else there would A: show them that Wayne does not tolerate losing (on this level at least) and B: get someone in there (whether its Capers or whoever) that the players still look at as a coach and not someone who is over their head. But those would be the opnly reasons I could think of to can him before the end of the season. I am of the mindset that he helped create this mess, therefore he should have to live with it all the way through.
I am not sure what I would do if I was Cam. People say he has lost the team, well its hard to keep your veterans enthusiastic when you go youth completely, trade your top wideout midseason, and are 0-12. That signals rebuilding, and when you havn't won a game yet, good luck to the coach with that situation. The only motivation you can give your veterans is to not go down as the worst team ever, 0-16. And that is the only motivation you can give them. I guess you could threaten their jobs, but I am sure most wouldnt mind leaving.
I agree that it's opinion, no shred of fact in it. The team isn't giving up on Cameron, although the defence obviously doesn't like the fact that they're no longer the blue-eyed blonde haired golden child of the HC.
Why would Cameron help the organization prepare his own termination by letting MM call plays. Silly opinion piece.
Some of you scare me wanting Cam back, I dont think he should get fired after Sunday, but I thinjk he should get fired when the season ends. Alot of up and coming Coaches will be available. Cam has struggled with time managing, play calling, and big time decisions. I mean the guy sometimes seems lost out there and giving the play calling duties back to Murlacky, a guy who should have gotten fired in the offseason speaks volumes. I was a big Cam supporter, but after these long 12 weeks I think the guy needs to go.
Although someone else can do the job, I just don't think letting go of Cameron yet is right. Cameron is a rookie HC, he's learning from his mistakes. Next year I am certain he will hire an OC (Not Mularkey) and spend more time on both offense and defense sides of the ball. He's learning he can't be an OC and HC at the same time, thus giving up playcalling to Mularkey. I like what Cameron has done so far... the Phin fans wanted to rebuild, well this is what we get for waiting for so long... This is why patch working was never a great idea.. The fact is though, we'll be hiring a new rookie HC more than likely if Cam is fired, because you know Cowher, Marty Schottenheimer, and Parcells won't come here (those were the names floating) because Cowher isn't interested in Miami supposedly, Schotty won't take over Cameron's job out of respect more than likely, and Parcells supposedly doesn't want to get involved with head coaching. Keep Cameron for another year or two, things will get better.
