Canseco offers $5K for boxing opponent

Just when you thought Jose Canseco's life couldn't get any more surreal, he goes and does something like this.

Canseco, the former Oakland A's slugger and reality TV veteran who recently revealed that the mortgage on his home had been foreclosed, is offering $5,000 to anyone who will step into the ring with him and headline a boxing card in Atlantic City this summer.

Canseco's promoter Damon Feldman sent out the following email:

"We are looking for a big opponent/athlete to step into the ring and fight 'The Bad Boy of Baseball' Jose Canseco in a boxing match, live on Saturday, July 12, at the Atlantic City Bernie Robbins Stadium. The person picked will be paid $5,000 and become a star overnight. There will be a full undercard and if you are not picked you may have a shot on the undercard."

i know Canseco has trained martial arts before, wonder why he chose boxing and not MMA for his latest spectacle.

This is what washed up celebs/athletes with no real-world skills do when they're broke.

    I hope Steve-O invests wisely.

Too bad Canseco is such a D-bag because his revelations about Steroids have actually lead to some much needed changes in the game. Prooblem is when you shove it in everyones face saying "Haha, I told you so :P" people are usually less inclined to help you out in the future.

The guy burned wayyy too many bridges and... well, has to box for money. Sad.

Apparently, some 5'9 ex-NFL kick returner agreed to fight him.

    Dude, Vai Sikahema!!

Was one of my favorites. Made the Pro Bowl a few times.

Unlike Canseco, he doesn't need the money.

Jumpin Bejesus on a pogo stick, this guy is a train wreck, which is a shame he used to be "great" once, the first 40-40 player in MLB history, he hit a home run into the restaurant in the Sky Dome in Toronto, now he is reduced to begging for 5,000 boxing matches in NJ.

Vai was a bad dude in the NFL, not so sure about how well he can fight though.

How about Dennis Rodman v Jose Canseco bout?
