When new Cardinals GM Sports 24/7 was hired it was believed he wanted to shake things up in Arizona and make a quick turnaround. Well, he quickly shook things up that's for sure. After immediately firing head coach Ken Wisenhunt and offensive coordinator the new GM made quick work of finding their replacements as well as filling the vacant defensive coordinator role. And he did so with a splash. His first move was flying out to Norman, Oklahoma to convince star college coach Bob Stoops to take the Cardinals head coaching job.Stoops is one of the most successful college coaches in the game amassing an amazing 129-31 record at Oklahoma along with winning 7 Big 12 Championships and a National Championship in 2000. There are doubters though about whether a college coach can have success in the NFL. Sports24/7 addressed those concerns.Stoops will actually be taking less money in the NFL signing a $3 million deal which is significantly less than the nearly $6 million he was expected to make after bonuses in Norman. To fill their voids at the coordinator positions the Cardinals hired a couple of up and comers in the coaching community with Pat Shurmur and Todd Bowles. Shurmer is known as somewhat of a QB guru after working under Andy Reid with Donovan McNabb for 10 years in Philadelphia and then helping make Sam Bradford one of the best young quarterbacks in the NFL as offensive coordinator in St. Louis. With the issues at the quarterback position Shurmur could be a very important hire. For their defensive coordinator opening they went with another highly regarded young coach in Todd Bowles. Bowles has spent the past three seasons as assistant head coach and secondary coach of the Miami Dolphins and has worked under some of the better defensive minds in the NFL. He comes from the Bill Parcells coaching tree and spent last season working with defensive guru Mike Nolan. In Dallas under Bowles three defensive backs made a combined five Pro Bowl appearances including the 2007 season where three out of four of their starting secondary made the trip to Hawaii. In Miami safety Yeremiah Bell made it to his first Pro Bowl under Bowles and he helped develop two of the better young cornerbacks in the NFL in Vontae Davis and Sean Smith. He's known as a hard-nosed guy that demands hard work. Sports24/7 sounded happy to have him on boardBoth Shurmur and Bowles have been interviewed for head coaching positions and are both expected to eventually get head coaching jobs.
