Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reports that the team is open to trading wide receiver Cedrick Wilson. Wilson signed a three-year deal with the Dolphins as a free agent last year and is set to make a base salary of $7 million this season.

A pre-June 1 trade would clear $6 million in cap space for Miami and a trade after June 1 would add another $1 million in savings. Cutting Wilson would not bring the same cap relief and Jackson adds that the Dolphins are OK holding onto Wilson if no trade presents itself.

Wilson caught 12 passes for 136 yards last season. He had 45 catches for 602 yards and six touchdowns for the Cowboys in 2021.

Braxton Berrios and Freddie Swaim have joined Wilson, Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle, Erik Ezukanma, and River Cracraft in the receiver group in Miami.

If Barry reports it it has legs..

Personally I stated didn’t like the aqusition going back to last year so nothing has changed for me

Signing Berrios and Ez lurking is his goodbye pass.. no need for that salary right now

My hope is Ross and Grier can find a partner and perhaps buy a higher draft pick that’s being offered.

I don't feel one way or another about trading him. If he goes, I wish him the best. If he stays, I hope he steps up.

I think that this was very obvious. I think that they would literally take anything. Probably pay some of his salary too.

What’s the best that you think they can get for him - a sixth rounder, or do you think someone would give up a 5?

I'd prefer to keep him. Unsure the rest of this roster is capable of stepping up as a full time starter if an injury occurs to 1-2.

If we can find a trade partner to free up that cap space, I'm 100% for it and would throw in a future 7th rounder to do it. Wilson is a decent WR when not banged up, but our depth with EZ, Berrios and Cracraft would be fine without Wilson. We can either roll over the cap relief to next season or use it on a good vet that gets cut in training camp to provide depth elsewhere

Perhaps a fifth if we pay some of the salary for the team

iirc we signed Wilson before the Tyreek Hill trade. I don’t think he’s a bad player or anything, but I think he just ended up in the wrong place at the wrong time through no fault of his own.
