Nice.
Just a note: This is the third Henne interview I have listened to. In two of the interviews, when the someone brings up the fact that he and Long are on the same team, he says the he is happy that he and and Long will have a couple more years together.
Does he not know what he is implying or is only expecting to be here for 2 years. I was not educated or socialized in Michigan so if you have an insight as to what "couple" means there. I'd be happy to hear your opinion. -
I noticed that as well Celt. I also found it funny he was upset about ESPN showing him numerous times before he was drafted. The fact that he and his agent had an agreement on how many times he'd be shown is hilarious to me.
I wish Mandich would have made him elaborate on the subject. -
I guess he means the buisness is unpredictible and played it safe. Don't read so much into it.
-
I think the point Celt was trying to make is that you like to see guys have enough confidence to say they're gonna be around for more than "a couple" years.
I realize talk is cheap, but the fact that he's said it twice raises an eyebrow amongst fans.Celtkin likes this. -
I agree though, he better stay more than a "couple" years, we drafted his arse early.HardKoreXXX likes this. -

Oh well I don't think Henne is the answer at QB.
I hope he is around for more than 2 years. if he isn't then what a waste of a pick. -
I did not reach an assumption. Instead, I found it curious and asked for opinions. -
-
I hope it pushes Beck to be all he can be
Beck has the tools to be great for us. As long as he has time in the pocket Beck can move the chains. Hell I was excited when Beck was playing he found Teddy Ginn all the time. -

I said Mandich would do a backflip if Both Henne and Long were the picks, I now bet that he he jumped 30 feet in the air and then did a flip upon landing (kind of like when you scare a small sleeping dog)

I took notice to that "couple of years" statement during the draft while he was being interviewed on ESPN. I didn't know how to take it. I couldn't read it.
I bet he just doesn't take things for granted. I don't know. -
-
I don't see this being much of a big deal really. I get the impression he's just trying to downplay the whole thing with jake being his old teammate and stuff like its no big deal because he has a greater job to accomplish here, and thats trying to be our starting qb, and trying to win games for us. I don't think its a big deal. Chad has always come accross in media to me as just being a quiet calm guy, not very excitable in interviews, on the field and on the sidelines though, he's the opposite. Im not worried.

For what it is worth, I liked the pick and think that Henne is a positive move. -
But keep in mind some people are alot more nervious than others in this type of situation. Sometimes we say things that are just a part of that nerviousness or lack or prep time. If I were his agent I'd sure make ap oint to mention to him that what he's sayng doesnt come off well. -
How many people share Mary and John's bed? :hi5: -
Granted, he may have been nervous or unsure....
For what it is worth: I love the pick and am doing this to prompt a discussion and am still waiting for --- :D -
This thread is like a train wreak. I don't know why I kept reading it, I just couldn't walk away from it.
I was like watching a bunch of preschoolers arguing over who gets the good smelly markers and who gets stuck with the crappy black licorice smelling one... -
And I loved the Henne pick as well :up:Celtkin likes this. -

If professional football people (those who have actually won in this league) thought Beck showed that he was on the road to greatness, Henne never gets picked.
Not saying Beck won't be great--hell, I hope he is--but if he is, it'll be something he develops into. Nothing we've seen so far can lead us logically to the conclusion that he'll be great. And the FO obviously agrees with that. -
See what marker comes first? That's right. The black licorice marker. If there's ever a marker that I came close to eating, it was the black licorice marker. Many a times in 1st grade was I caught sitting in a corner, slightly out of it, with a black tongue.
So watch what you say about the black licorice marker, because I won't stand for it!

Celt, I agree man. I wondered the same thing when he was first interviewed. I'm sure Chad Henne is a great guy but IMO he seemed kind of arrogant or just blah. He doesn't really show much excitement. I hope that is just his natural personality and not a flaw in his character. Hopefully he's that confident and calm under pressure on the field.
Who knows, maybe he doesn't want to be here. I like the pick too btw.Celtkin likes this. -
i would say its a flag, how big who knows.
I havent seen the interview so i do not know the way it was said but there is no fault in questionning it. If i heard it a few times, i would be "curious" as well.
it could be that he is isnt taking things for granted and knows that tomorrow isnt guaranteed. By saying i hope were here a couple of years could mean he knows that players come and go all the time and a couple of years is more than most.
i am not the arrogant or braggin type so i could see myself saying something like that and having that outlook in the statement.
He could also mean, i cant wait for the 4 to be up so i can be out of this moth@!er but who knows.
i am full of hope at this point so i am hoping for the first idea. -
I can't believe we've spent 4 pages of posts on this topic.
-
Maybe the Lorenzo Booker trade made an impression on him.
-
Personally, I still believe he's a Quaker Oats man (Mormon) -

I was having a bad morning before i read this. i actually spit out my coffe laughing out loud!!. Had me rolling. CoWorkers are looking at me like... WTF?? Thank you:sidelol::sidelol: -

I noticed he made similar comments on Saturday and I have to say they came across as odd on a couple of levels. The statements are not what you normally expect to hear from a 2nd round pick especially from a quarterback. My top three reasons he said these things are, he's a poor speaker, lacks confidence, is very humble or a combination of two or more of these possible reasons.
-
Maybe thats the way they speak where he is from.I just think it was poor choice of words.
In relative terms a football players career is short .You would expect a LT and a starting QB to play for 10 plus years if he is anygood but most fall by the wayside
in a couple of years.....speaking in the general sense ...not two years.
